Triathlon - Sprint
Total Time = 1h 35m 17s
Overall Rank = 60/76
Age Group = 35-39 Male
Age Group Rank = 8/8

   Swim

Comments:

Panicked! Felt trapped in my wetsuit, out of breath, entangled in seaweeds. I will have nightmares about it! Ended up doing the whole thing backstroking while hyperventilating hehe!

What would you do differently?:

More warmup in water.

T1

Comments:

Very slow transition, completely dead after my struggle with water

   Bike

Comments:

No hills, fast course, but I was out of energy!

T2

Comments:

Very slow.. took a small break and took time to clean my sunglasses full of sweat ;)

   Run

Comments:

I lacked determination and allowed myself to walk early in the run. After that, I was alternating between run and walk.

What would you do differently?:

Stay focused and keep running

Post race

Warm down:

Walked around and enjoyed the "free" food :)

Event comments:

This was my first triathlon race ever. I will learn from this.

Wow, you got some great photographs!! Congrats on your first race. It was my first sprint too and it sounds like we had the exact same swim. We'll do better next time, right?

Hi there!

Sorry to hear about your swim! It was really a nightmare for me. My wife was there taking pictures. You can see more and larger/better versions here:
http://www.tguertin.com/blog/2009/06/23/tomatoman_results

I was really not happy with my performance at my first triathlon ever (felt I could have done better), so 3 days after, I headed in Michigan for the Triceratops TRI in Brighton. It was an awesome venue. Nice lake, free of seaweeds hehe. I did really good there, finishing 57 out of 250. My report of the race:
http://www.tguertin.com/blog/2009/06/26/triceratops

They organize 2 more races on the same location in july and august. More details here:

Good luck with your next triathlon!

Cheers
