How do you measure your Resting Heart Rate?
   -  just lay down with your HR monitor on?
   -  wear your HR monitor to bed
   -  sit quietly with HR monitor

I will wear my HR monitor to bed every other month or so.  I do it more out of curiosity than anything else.  This weekend I had a minimum HR of 33 with an average of 44 while sleeping.

I take mine when I wake up.  I use my watch and count for 15 seconds then multiply by 4.  I try to do this every morning.

Hmmm...I'd never thought about doing this...but I would say it's the way I would have go to.  The few times I've tried to take my RHR in the morning, just the act of grabbing the watch or turning on the light is enough to spike the HR.  But if you're just letting the HRM run overnight with no effort you would think you would get good numbers.

I understand that as long as you are consistent in how you measure you will get good data.  However, to USE RHR I also am aware that you really need to track it daily.  I'm not sure I would want to wear the HRM every night...

I used to take it at night right before I fell asleep. The alarm in the morning jacked up my HR.

You could use any option as long as you try to do it under the same circumstances (i.e. time of the day)

I did it the firt year of training for tris until I learned (and realized) it really doesn't provided me with anything useful so I haven't done so every since, as a matter of fact I dont wear a HRM anymore at all...
