We just moved into the City of Rochester (in the Browncroft neighborhood) from the 'burbs.  I love most of living here, but I'm struggling to figure out where the heck I'm going to be able to bike safely, and preferably without having to walk my bike up Ellison Park hill (I know, I know...).  Does anyone have suggestions for ways out of town that don't involve too many highways/hills/scary neighborhoods/8 lane crossings?  Anywhere from 6 to 25 miles would be great...

Thanks!

There's always the Erie canal trail, but you'd most likely want to drive to it!

I'd strongly recommend joining the Rochester Bike Club (RBC).  With membership, you receive a CD with a couple of hundred rides that can be sorted by a number of ways.  Even if you do nothing with the club, that CD is more than worth the price of admission ($20).  You also get newsletters and hear about group rides, etc.

Here's a link to their website.
