..
None of you BT'ers better be the ones I yelled out for tossing used gel packets on the road. My typical rebuke was "there's pockets for that!"
...

Umm... I didn't "toss" my used gel packets, but one did fall right out of my hands while trying to get it in my mouth!  My mistake, and I didn't even get to taste it

If it is not intentional, it is forgiven...the people I yelled at were clearly doing it on purpose.

I had a good time wish I had not forgotten my CPU so I could have called and arranged to ride with a few of you.  By the way I threw my gell wrappers in the trash at rest stops.

apparently I had a bottle launcher on my bike the back half on those rough roads. Frown  I had to get off my bike and run back and get my bottle 5 times in the last 50.  Saw a few of the nasty wrecks/ambulances, but luckily didn't have any close calls to speak of.  A friend of mine did though, guy swerved into him caught his front wheel he went down and another rider ran over one of his wheels mangling it into a nice "S" shape.  So he sagged 70 miles, said it took like 5 hours.

Quick note...... The Photos are up.

I also had a great time before, during, and after the ride. The towns people were great and really appreciated all the cheering. One of my highlights was going through a small town and there were about 10 kids lined up waiting to be high 5'd as we passed. The three of us all slowed down and high fived the group as we passed.

I already booked my room for next year. So is it to early to start the Official Hotter n Hell 2010 thread?

I did the 100K and there was a little guy standing outside his house waiting to high 5 people.  About ten riders in front of me just blew by him but I slowed down to slap his hand.  To be honest, he was one the defining moments of the race for me.  It was near the end, I was tired, sore, thirsty, hungry...couldn't wait to hit the base and grab some grub.  All he said was "way to go mister!"  All of the sudden there was an epic wind at my back, I was motivated, and I found a whole new level of strength.  I know it sounds a little corny but that little boy was at the right place and at the right time.  Great ride though!  I'll be back again next year for the 100 miles...can't wait!!!

I loved the 100-miler, but really wish they could route it through the base too. My friends that did the shorter route said that was so inspirational for them and that it was the best part of the ride.
