I HAVE RIDDEN BOTH BIKES AND THEY BOTH FIT!!

After riding my Motobecane Nemesis for 2 years, I have started looking at upgrading the frame.

I came across a new 2007 Quiintana Roo Lucero Frame. I can have the shop put all of my parts from the Nemesis onto the QR and walk away for $1700 http://www.racycles.com/triathlon/triathlon-framesets/quintana-roo/... FRAME ONLY

I went into the LBS that I have been dealing with for 10 years and told them about the deal. They offered me a 2004 Trek TTT complete bike with 400 miles on it for $1550 http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/2004/archive/teamtimetrial

The Trek is in perfect condition (no blemishes or scratches... no crashes)used only for a handful of TTs and 2 IMs

What do I do?

2007 Lucero frame with 2 year old parts transferred over for 1700
or
2004 Trek TTT complete bike for 1550

Two totally different systems, the Trek is older, and by what the specs say it had some Ultegra components, and has some mileage on it.

Frankly, if cost was not that much of an issue, I would go with the QR and put on a Dura Ace setup.  I'm not knocking Trek, though, especially since I only live about 6 miles from their corporate hq.

I am no pro... this is just my opinion.

I'd go with the complete Trek and do business with the LBS you have developed a relationship with over the last ten years.

on the other hand... go with your gut!!!

That's what I'm leaning towards. I need to let them know in a couple of days.

I despise Trek.  So you know what my opinion would be ......... not to mention that a 5 year old set of components and frame, while they may work fine and be like new, are already outdated with the way current componentry has been evolving.

If it were me, I'd go for the Trek... yeah it's older, but it'll give you a whole other bike... then you could sell your Motobecane... making the deal even sweeter... you could maintain your relationship with your LBS.  the Trek is using Ultegra, what do you have on the Motobecane?

Personally...

I love QR and am looking at getting one for my First race bike. however the Trek is a complete bike and you would be working with your LBS which it sounds like you have a good working relationship with. I would maybe recommend getting it and seeing about upgrading any of the components for a few hundred bucks and you would still be within the cost of the QR. You would also still have the Nemesis then for a bike to use on the trainer/raining rides/sell it to recoup some money vs. only having a frame sitting around if you get the QR frame...

however I would say go with your gut. If one bike looks sexier to you go with it! (cause we all know it is how the bike looks not how good the engine is...)

400 miles on the Trek?  If someone did 2 IM's and a handfull of TT's they also put some training miles in on the bike to make sure they were comfortable and the bike was in good working order.  Just my 2 cents.

If I'm you I buy this new Lucero complete bike for $2200 and sell the nemesis to make up the difference between the frame with the old parts.

It was used as a rental for races in the US (IMLP) that people did from other places. This LBS travels to LP each year to rent bikes and wheels and parts. A friend of mine (who used to work there) actually drove it up to Lake Placid two years ago. Other than that, it has been hanging on the wall at the LBS.

Wait a sec:  Are the components on your Nemesis better or worse than what comes on the Trek?  If better, than swap and get the QR frame.  If not as good, then get the Trek.

Is the Nemesis a TT bike or a roadie?  If a roadie, then I would consider getting the Trek and keeping the Nemesis as well.

Who did your fit?  I'm not an expert, but the QR and Trek have two very different geometries.

What are the sizes of the frames?

Medium in both. They both will fit, however, I like the way the Trek feels... if that makes any sense.

Have you done a test ride on the QR (well a bike of the same year and model but with actual components) as well or just the trek.if you have test ridden both then go for the trek, if you like how it feels more you will enjoy it more.
