Swim
  • 08m 41s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

The start was a individual jump in start.

Scott and talked about he would be better if he felt like he was having to keep up w/ me, so I went first. He stayed pretty close the first half and tired as we went farter. I just cruised, easy stuff...
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, it was nice seeing Scott not stopping. He was even told that he could walk if he wantted and didn't.. Nice...
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

I had a good T1 except for getting into my shoes. I did not put the rubber bands on and it was ugly, lolo

Scott needed to put on socks and running shoes.

What would you do differently?:

Probably not much, all my stuff worked well but I forgot to do the rubber bands.

Comments:

Easy ride...

Scott had periods of moving at 16.5 and then would sit up and rest. He did real good, I was hoping for 15 and that worked out...
What would you do differently?:

Nothin, it nice to hang w/ him.

A good lesson to be reminded of for me was to break the race into small pieces, even if that is only the next intersection. To not think of the whole bike distance but to the next turn or so... Scott sometimes got into his on head w/ how far he was having to go but as soon as he got halfway, he would speed up and relax...
Transition 2
  • 02m 16s
Comments:

Good T2 for both of us...
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, worked well... Can for sure be faster
Run
  • 31m 48s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. Scott had something in his sock that we had to stop for twice. He eventually took his sock off and ran w/out it. Walked the aid station at mile 2.5 but other than that he ran the rest of the way, very impressed...

It was real enjoyable to run w/ him. He had the sock issue at the beginning andthen at mile 2 his ankles started to bother him. He made the statement that we were too close to the end to worry about it now. He ran through the end and the last 1/2 mi was awesome as re realized that he was going to finish, that was the best part of the whole race. He was SO EXCITED that he was going to actually finish running across the fiish line!

My best birthday present ever... Thanks Scott !
What would you do differently?:

NOTHING !! I would run 100 more races w/ Scott if I could... He DID say that he might do another, I can only hope I will be ther w/ him... Crossing he finish line w/ him today was an easy top 2 or 3 life experiences for me !
Post race
Warm down:

pizza nad beer, is there another way...

Event comments:

My birthday present from my 19yo son Scott was (at my request) to run a triathlon w/ me. He DID! How awesome... Fantastic day and so cool to see him do something that he felt proud about himself doing... He was really proud and His dad was even prouder...
