Total Time = 58m 5s
Overall Rank = 97/378
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 15/32
Pre-race routine:

everything was packed from the night before so all I had to do was get showered and eat, drink and get mentaly prepared.
Event warmup:

normal light stretching of the legs and back.
Swim
  • 07m 20s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

this swim was my best start yet but one of my worste middles then an ok finish. at the gun I went into the water witha burst of speed. after about a minute I looked around and there was nobody in front of me, only a few off to the sides. I slowed my stroke to cruising speed and unfortunately got cocky and stopped sighting regularly. next thing I know I look up and I head for the wrong shore, off to the left. I get straightened out and after another minute or so I hit a wall of weeds. at first I was really scared and almost panicked because it seemed like I would get pulled under. but I managed to crawl across the weeds and get clear...the damage was done though and I lost about a minute total to bad nav and hitting the weeds
What would you do differently?:

start the same but continue to sight on a regular schedule

Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

first good transition with the shoes in the peddles. I had worked on this and it saved me almost a minute
What would you do differently?:

just keep getting faster
Bike
  • 29m 40s
  • 10 miles
  • 20.22 mile/hr
Comments:

really happy with my ride. my only goal was to avg over 20 mph for the first time in a race and I did it...mission accomplished
What would you do differently?:

you know
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

not sure why T2 was so much slower than T1, I did stop for a drink of water but that didn't take 30 secs.
What would you do differently?:

going to get an aero bottle this week to make drinking easier during the ride...then there will be no need during T2
Run
  • 19m 2s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

not a great run but it was within my expected time so I'm happy. I was passed more than I like but held off a few guys in my AG.
What would you do differently?:

keep training
Post race
Warm down:

just walking around, eating, drinking, speaking with Velo and Robert. then headed home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

stupid weeds

Event comments:

great to race tradewinds again...it's a fast course and a good indication of my overall ability. I took over 3 minutes off my last time there which is great...next race I'm shooting for 56 minutes
