Sunny
Total Time = 1h 28m 19s
Overall Rank = 322/2544
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 70/419
Pre-race routine:

Got up, ate a banana, bagel and pb. Went to the Ice Plex, got the wet suit on and walked over to the water. Swam with Kathi for about 5 minutes.
Swim
  • 15m 21s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

I started with all of the cancer survivors. Pretty emotional, but great way to start the day. I just asked that my body be strong, do everything to the best of my abilities and have fun!!! The swim was pretty good. I kept finding myself over to the right quite a bit, so that slowed my time down a bit. REALLY sunny, so it was hard to see where we were swimming. Couldn't see the bouys or the platforms. Had to take the goggles off a couple of times to figure out where I was.
What would you do differently?:

Not get so far off to the right.
Transition 1
  • 03m 25s
Comments:

Yes, it was SLOW...I for some reason can't seem to speed this up. I actually thought I was going fairly quick. I guess not :-).
Bike
  • 37m 15s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 19.97 mile/hr
Comments:

Loved this ride. Didn't get passed once :-). Loved saying "on your left" over and over :-).
Transition 2
  • 02m 51s
Comments:

Again, SLOW...who knows. As Joe Runner says, are you having a cup of coffee in between!?!?! Don't even drink coffee, but just isn't a strong point.
Run
  • 29m 24s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Can't believe I ran that fast. I was at about a 9:22 min mile last year, so a little slower, but I was extremely pleased with this run, since I haven't been able to run that fast in almost a year. And I wore the cape, which was really fun!

I am extremely proud of myself with this race. I bettered my time from last year by about 3 minutes!!!! Went in with NO expectations just having treatment 2 days before the race, so I didn't know if I would even come close to my last years time. It was a great day to show cancer who was boss! Had an amazing time with friends and all of the ladies out there. It really is a fun race, extremely well organized, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!
What would you do differently?:

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Post race
Warm down:

Found all the Milton Girls Gone Tri peeps, took our picture and walked around waiting for the times to be posted.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As my Dad says, "A little cancer" and treatment being 2 days before. I am hoping I can do even better next year.

Congrats on a great race!!  I'll look forward to seeing some photos when you have them.  It's the first review of the Trek women's series that I have read, they are having one here this year, but changed the date and made a lot of people mad.... nice to hear it's well organized.

Your times were amazing, especially considering your treatment this week.  You are awesome!

Great race!  Sounds like you had fun and still went fast.  A great combination!  Get those transitions cleaned up and you will kill these things!
