Comments: Did a lot better than I felt like I was doing. Had a couple of times where the cold caught me off guard splashing on my face and it actually felt cold. Caught myself gasping and sucking for air a couple of times, but tried to keep a steady even stroke and sight on about every 10th stroke. Transition 1
Comments: Really tried a lot of new things to improve me T1 time. Shoes preset on the bike, going sockless, riding on top of the shoes once past the mount line (rode that way to the top of the first hill and then put feet into the shoes). This was by far the best T1 time I think I have ever had and it was the fastest in my AG (finally a "fastest" in something). Had a little trouble getting the wetsuit off over the ankles or may have been even quicker. Bike
Comments: Finally able to hold over 20mph on a bike segment (not much over 20 though). I felt super comfortable on this ride and a couple of times thought about picking up the pace some. I only remember being passed by 3 or 4 people but I was able to pass many more than that. Transition 2
Comments: Had a little trouble getting into the shoes with the Yankz. I had them a bit too tight and had to sit down to get them on. Otherwise, not a bad T-2. Run
Comments: For not having much BRICK practice this year, and in light of all of the knee and calve issues within the past few months, I am very happy with this run. The last 3/4 miles of the run, there were several instances where I wanted to just put the hammer down but I didnt have much confidence in my ability to sustain an increased pace so I just waited for the last 100 yards or so. Post race
Warm down: Food and drink What limited your ability to perform faster: Didnt finally decide to do this race until Thursday evening before the race. Had some real concerns about the leg issues but they were not an issue on race day. Very happy with this race. There were a couple of instances on the bike and run were I thought about trying to go faster, but knew that I havent had enough training this year to be able to sustain it. Overall, very happy with the event. Last updated: 2009-07-19 12:00 AM
