Swim
Comments: My time last year for this same distance was 14 minutes. Unofficial word is that the olympic course was measured short and the sprint was measured long, which would explain the disparity in times. Even so it was not my day in the water. The wind had started to pick up by the time my wave started out, creating a slight chop to the water that threw me. I tried to get to the back of the wave but seems like everyone else wanted to do the same. For a seasoned swimmer this would have been no problem, but I struggled and had to breaststroke more than I would have liked. What would you do differently?: Just need more practice in crowded conditions. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Happy with T1 time Bike
Comments: Nice ride, passed a lot of people. Tired from near death swim experience but by the turnaround I felt better and picked up the pace on the way back. Transition 2
Run
Comments: So-so run Post race
Warm down: Beer and pizza What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor swim Last updated: 2009-07-13 12:00 AM

This race is in my home town, so travel time is not an issue. Got up at 5, had small bowl of oatmeal, loaded up and headed out.
Swam out to the white buoy and back. Announcement was made shortly before the race that wetsuits were legal, but three days ago the water temp was 81, so I didn't even pack my suit.
