Subject: Wetsuit Care
I have a question, I have had my wetsuit packed up since last season in a wetsuit bag. I just pulled it out today, and I was wondering is there a way for me to get it ready for my impending race? I talked to an associate at a race shop and he told me to use armor all. Is there any other advice out there?

I'm not so sure about the Armor All.  I think as long as you've been rinsing it well after previous uses, not using it in chlorinated water, and kept it packed relatively uncompressed, you should be fine....

I would soak it in water and then let it hang to dry.

Soak it in the bath tub for an hour or so a couple days before your first race and then hang it up to dry.

Soak it for more than an hour or so. I usually soak mine overnight. Soak it BEFORE you try to stretch it, or try to put it on. If you have any fingernail marks, rips, tears, etc, use some rubber repair, or AquaSeal before you soak it, and definetly fix these before you try to put it on the first time. Rinse thoroughly inside and out with clean water. If you need to clean it, use a very light detergent, or a hair shampoo - I use baby body wash for the inside "lining".

Don't use Armor All. Whoever told you to should be shot. Petro oils and products will damage the suit.

Tips:
1) Cooking PAM helps to get the suit on you easier.
2) Wear socks when putting it on, or plastic shopping bags on your feet.
3) Body Glide on your shoulders/neck.
4) Clip your fingernails and toenails before, so you don't accidently rip it.
