Extreme Veteran 580 | Subject: How do you wear your iPod? I killed my 1st Generation Nano this morning and I am debating between replacing it with another Nano or the Touch. I am not necessarily a fan of wearing it on my arm and have gotten used to wearing it in the waist band pocket of my running shorts or the pocket of my running tank / cycling jersey. My hubby thinks this is how I killed it, but I swear the thing was just as drenched in the arm band I used to wear. Any recommendations on how to avoid drowning my next iPod? Living in Texas, the humidity ensures that any workout that is 1 hour or longer equates to drenched clothing. How do you wear yours – especially the larger ones? |

I get caught in the rain fairly frequently here in FL - a couple of times I have stuffed the Ipod under my hat to help keep it dry during downpours. I like the armband because it's easier to access the controls - I tend to skip around in my playlist as my mood changes during a run. Mark |

Master 1927 Guilford, CT | Subject: RE: How do you wear your iPod? I wear my older nano on my forearm with an arm band because it is too tight on my bicep...I sweat to the point where I have no piece of dry clothing left after basically every workout so I know where your coming from. If yours was 1st gen, then it may have just run its course...they are sort of like computers in my mind and are finished after a couple years. I'm actually surprised my nano has lasted the 3 or so years I've had it since I basically abuse it. I have the new shuffle but it's a POS so I stopped using it pretty much but that could be clipped wherever if actually worked. I have an iPhone but don't wear it working out...only on the train and walking in Manhattan to and from work usually. I'd like something a little smaller than the nano but seem to get by...damn I wish that shuffle wasn't such a piece of garbage. |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: How do you wear your iPod? I have a couple. The big one stays at home or in the car. I have a shuffle for workouts which is great. It's light and I just clip it to my collar, or hat, or camelback strap, away from any serious sweat. |

I'm wondering who has these chicken arms that fit into those tiny little bicep bands? Anyways... I live in Dallas, TX. It's hot and humid. Edited by KSH 2009-08-04 11:13 AM |

Member 195 Akron, OH | Subject: RE: How do you wear your iPod? I've killed 4 shuffles in 6 months. After the first time I bought the extended warranty for like 7 bucks which has worked out quite well. The first two died by wearing them on one of those earpiece gizmos that holds the shuffle on the back of your head, moved to the waist, dead, moved to the colar of my shirt, dead. So now I wear it either on an arm band which I hate, or I simply role up the sleeve of my running shirt and clip it there. So far, so good. |

Expert 1053 Culpeper, VA | Subject: RE: How do you wear your iPod? This company makes stuff that you can swim with your Shuffle/iPod/iPhone/etc. Was looking into this recently because my wife mentioned wanting some music while she swam. I'm not sure I'd want that thing strapped to my arm while running, but it would keep it dry. Another thought would be a hydration belt with a pouch, they tend to have a hole for headphones. That might help if moisture is a problem. http://www.h2oaudio.com/waterproof_armbands_and_cases.php I run with my mp3 player in my shorts pocket. It gets a little wet, but nothing major. |

I just can't seem to get into it, I like to hear my surroundings when I'm training and focus on my breathing. Don't you miss your music when you are racing because you are used to it from training? |

I got so used to carrying my car keys with me at one point that now when I run I just carry my iPhone and my apartment keys and don't think twice about it! I tried an arm band for my old iPod once, but I could never get the headphone wire to stay out of my way. |

New user 19 Fort Collins, CO | Subject: RE: How do you wear your iPod? I have the Sansa Clip, it holds more than the Shuffle and has a display for playlists and its seriously like the size of my thumb, i clip on the waist of bike shorts over my hip and run the headphone cords under my shirt so they are out of the way. i dont even notice it when i ride, i know its not as neat as any apple product (im sure its not itune compatiable either) but they are cheap on ebay (60$, 8 gb) so if it breaks its not the end of the world. |

I've seen quite a few runners here with the new nanos and they all run with it clippen to the back of their waste band and run the cord up the back of their shirt. I live in Lafayette, La and by 9:00am is is sweltering so I'd suggest the back of your waist band. |

Expert 973 Berkeley, Calif. | Subject: RE: How do you wear your iPod? If sweat really killed your iPod my solution probably won't work, but here it is anyway. I have a Shuffle that I clip to my sportsbra. I like this for a couple reasons: first, I can stuff all of the headphone wires down the front of my shirt, so they don't get tangled up in my hands/arms; and second, the iPod itself is hidden so I don't feel like a target (I know people who have been mugged for their iPods). No one would even know I was listening to music unless they looked closely and saw the headphones. I hate the idea of running with anything bigger than a Shuffle -- it just seems like it'd be clunky, and I think the armband would bug me. But that's just me. I love the size of the Shuffle and I don't care about creating specific playlists. If I don't like a song that comes on I can just skip it. I've had the same Shuffle for at least three years (it's lasted a hell of a lot longer than my Garmin!). |

Any ideas? .... and for whatever reason I NEVER miss my music in a race. There is so much to take in during a race! |
