Was starving before today's short swim, but not so much after.  Usually pretty hungry after biking.  Running...not so much-usually just thirsty.  I think swimming is an appetite suppressant for me!

Going in the sauna for 5 - 10 minutes helps reduce my hunger but like many others I am always hungry after swimming.  During biking I could eat a full course meal if I could figure out how to mount a plate.

I'm hungry after biking. I'm nauseous after running... After swimming, I am SO starving I actually get the shakes if I'm not careful. I've tried eating more before hand, hitting the hot tub after to warm up, etc... nothing stops the fact that I am just starving. I've come to the conclusion that I need to pack snacks with me. Preferably salty ones, for some reason. Otherwise I find myself craving McD's french fries. Honestly, don't get it.... Any other sane time of the week and I hate McD's.

I'm going to risk sounding like an idiot here, but is there any possibility that since you're (almost) weightless in the water your stomach contents re-arrange themselves somewhat and clear out some of the air space, leaving more open space that needs to be filled by food?

Again, I'm totally out of my league here as I'm not a doctor and haven't recently stayed at a Holiday Inn, but it's just a thought.

Yup, but that's one of the best things about swimming.  You can enjoy chowing down because you earned it.

yeah, swimming leaves me starving! I've taken to keeping a thermos of soup in the car that I down right after I"m done swimming. It helps.

Also, I swim at my Y, so on days I swim and lift/run/or bike....I'm not as hungry as when I just swim.

I used to crave salty food after long bike rides when I was drinking water only (plus food). When I switched to a drink with electrolytes the salt cravings went away....

In college during the Holiday season, the swim team and basketball team stqyed on campus for training.  We used to all eat together during the breaks (three to four practices a day), and we would challenge the BBall team to eating contests.  They couldn't compete with us swimmers.  WE COULD EAT.

Even on our away meets, we would stop at Mikkie D's and eat everything in the place.  Face it swimmers eat.
