I am doing it. This will be my first tri. I have done both the ride and the run a couple of times. The hill on Winterfield is long but the run is pretty flat. I don't like the bike because of that long downhill on Robious. I just can not let it go, my friends pedal down it but when I get above 30 mph I start to get a little nervous. Good luck everyone, see you there.

This is a great first tri. It sounds like you will be well prepared. Don't worry about the downhills but remember - speed doesn't kill, hitting the ground does Surprised. So if you can stay on your mount you can go as fast as you want toSmile. But seriously, You should do what you are comfortable with depending on the following factors: your bike riding skill level/experience, course conditions, car traffic, bike traffic, etc.

I hope your first tri is awesome.

I'm in. I reg last night. I was on the fence as well and after my HIM Sat really needed to put something else in front of me, otherwise I'd not work out. Did this race 3 years ago as my second tri ever. Looking forward to seeing how I have progressed.

RecTri,
I appreciate the words of encouragement. Yea, It is definitely not the speed that bothers me it is the speed in which I might hit the ground.Smile It is especially true since that turn is right at the bottom of the hill, if I have a straight coast out I am better. I have read that if you say wheeeeeee instead of Oh $hit, Oh $hit, while going down the hill it is not as scary. I am going to give that a try. Yell

Congratulations Scott. There are only 57 spots left for any of you who are on the fence. So far there are about 11 BT'ers signed up.

Glad to see you are in meh. If they set up the racks like at the tavern maybe we will be in the same one again. I did the bike course this weekend and it was good but a little windy at times. Wasn't as fast as I wanted but the one long hill can really slow you down. I think I averaged about 10mhp on it.

ha, says 9 minute drafter Jen.  luckily for this race you can change as many times as you want online.  i did 7:36 in a 25m pool today which puts me at 8 in long course.

The drafting was awesome.  I was making the best out of the situation.

Nice that you can change your times as many times as you want.  That's definitely new.

Ladies, what are you wearing for this tri - tri suit?  Do I need one?  I've been using swimsuit + running shorts up to this point but not sure about the weather for this one.

i'm going to wear my tri suit, but pool swims are the best to do a swimsuit and pull on shorts, i think.  i plan to have a jacket in transition just in case, but i find that when i'm giving 100% effort i just don't notice the cold until it's all over and i stop moving....

I did this race in 2006 and it was 30 degrees just before the swim. I plan to wear my tri suit and have a jacket for the bike. Being wet and cold are hard for me. I actually took time and pulled on pants in 06.

Just a reminder to everyone to update your swim times by tomorrow's deadline.  Please remember to adjust your times as necessary to reflect meters vs. yards and the 50 m. length of the pool.  Your swim time will be about 1 minute slower if you are training in a 25 yd. pool, or 30 seconds slower if you are training in a 25 meter pool.

The course record is 5 min. 7 sec. so the directors state that no time should be faster than that.

Two weeks to go!
