Subject: Bike Question, planning on competing in a 70.3 next year (Road or Tri-Bike)
i am currently riding a Felt 75 road bike and getting a new bike this fall. Undecided about investing in a Tri-Bike or a upgrading to a better road bike. Bike budget is about $2000. Do most of my riding alone. I have a couple of young boys (14 and 15 years old) who are intrested in starting to ride also. They currently ride my wife's Trek 7200. I am working toward a 70.3 next year. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Longer distance definitely a tri-bike because it will be good on your legs.  If you can find older models you will see tri-bikes on that range.  Maybe even carbon.

I would suggest the tri bike as well.

Well, I have a road bike and a tri bike.

For both my HIM and IM... I took my road bike. They were hilly and I like my roadie better on hills.

I also do a lot of group rides, so I have found that my road bike is better all the way around. My tri bike is primarily my trainer bike.

It's all a matter of preference.

Since you have a road bike though, you should probably get a tri bike... so then you have BOTH!

I have an F75 as well and I'm about to do my first HIM on it.  I'm not planning on getting a new bike for next year either and I see at least one possibly 2-3 more HIMs in my near future.  If you like the way the bike rides and handles (I do), consider adding aerobars and getting an aero fit and get new bikes for your kids instead...
