Running in the sand!!! Oh my god! Surprised

I did Hyannis 2 this weekend and another athlete told me that in the Fantastic Tri you run on the sand?!! All of the OWS that I've done have ended on the beach and it's only a short distance of sand running but other than that, I'm not trained for 3 miles of sand running! You have to work harder! Hmmm I don't even think I have enough time to check out the venue because I have Buzzard's this weekend. Does anyone know if either youtube.com or another website shows the race in progress? I need to check out sand running.

Since running is my slowest event, well it's like slow, slower and slowest, I need to get up there from the cape.So is the morning, noon or afternoon better for checking out the SAND RUN? I still can't believe it sand, hmmm.

It's hard packed sand.  You will be pleasantly surprised.  I was there yesterday and people were leisurely riding bikes on it.  I ran and it feels like soft payment.  Nothing like the sand at Hyannis.

The best time to go is around noon if possible.  But, if you do early mornings there is still enough hard packed sand at high tide to get a sense of what it will be like.

Again, don't worry it is NOTHING like the Hyannis run.

Just wanted to shout out that our fellow bt'r, comein4yea, placed second for Newbie men at the Buzzard's Bay Tri! Unbelievable second in his first season and he only began training 2 1/2 months ago. His screen name so suits him and I bet he'll do it again. So watch out folks 'cuz he's comein4yea! and he's so humble that I probably embarrassed him. Simply put the dude ROCKS! Cool

Okay so who's calling in sick tomorrow so they can train w/ Seren and I? (Oops hope the boss doesn't see this.) Good luck to all of you and if it rains, just think it will cool us off. See ya Sunday I'll be the only female in a bright pink trisuit. So don't be shy come up and say hi! Wink

I'm getting pretty psyched. This is my first tri in 3 months, and my last for the season. My training hasn't been great because of the wedding, but I'm also about in the same shape I was. I think my riding is better, though my swimming won't be quite as good. The advantage there is that the swimming is much smaller part of the event. The good news is that my running is better (im no longer just walking the run), and that I've done 3 of these.

Should be a lot of fun!

So I got hit by my first car today, Actually a budwiser van at nantasket beach. I was doing about twenty when he passed me looking for a parking space, we were pretty much right next to each other and I knew it was comming when I saw I was between him and the only open space I had about enough time to say aah and wham right into the side of the truck as he started turning. Luckly I hit it with my sholder and didnt get knocked off the bike although the abrupt stop did shift and loosen my seat. If he was ten more feet infront of me it would have sucked because I would have  gone straight into him. He apoligized said he was to busy looking for a parking spot, the guy in the car behind me got out looking all crazy like I just split my head open or something franticly asking if I was ok. I told him I was fine and come to think of it never even uncliped my peddels and kept riding. Damn Budwieser van

WOW, glad that you came out of that OK. Just goes to show you can't be too carefull. I always try and anticipate what people in cars are doing to stay one step ahead of them. Nice work keeping your eyes peeled
