Which race is the most beginner friendly? Or are they quite comparable.

Oliver.

Have done them both.

Oliver.

Osoyoos is hot and has the toughest bike course ever...up and over Richter pass down the rollers to cawston and then turn around and do it again! Its not nice.

Oliver.

Oh Olive is a good race, 3 loops with one hard hill each loop, nothing more than about a 5-8 minute climb each time.

Wave start. So not too bad...not great but not too bad.

Lake is not too cold that time of year as well.

I say Oliver as well, it is a really nice course and it is spectator friendly as well, the only thing I did not like is the long run from the water to T1, but it is my favorite half iron.

Bahahah

Go on impulse, you'll be happy you did
Even though my bike broke down and I didn't finish Oliver, I would suggest it over Osoyoos.  And I hear that if you win your AG you get a comp'd entry next year!
HOLLA!

If you want to challenge yourself on one of the hardest half iron courses in Canada - choose Osoyoos. If you like the heat - choose Osoyoos. This happens to be my favorite race!!

If you want to be around a lot of other racers including all levels from people doing their first TRI ever (yes a half iron first tri) all the way up to Pro - choose Oliver. If you want a multi loop course for bike and run so spectators can watch better - choose Oliver. If you want a bit more unpredictable weather - choose Oliver.

Both races are run by Joe Dixon at Outback Events and they are awesome. Either way you can't go wrong!

I already have a tattoo. Shall I still sign up?? What is the lake like? Wetsuit or non-wetsuit legal swim? I hate weeeeeeeeeds I hate weeeeeeeds I hate weeeeeeeeeeeds ... Oliver sounds like a good first Half Iron though. How would it compare to the Half Iron route in Victoria at Elk Lake?? That's my other option (seeing how I live here an' all).
