Subject: Multiple short or single long discipline(s) per workout
My coach has me doing shorter sessions of multiple disciplines each day. There's even one day a week that includes swim, bike, run, and strength. I generally only do longer distances/times (> 1hr) on the weekend. I was looking at the 1/2 IM plan and noticed that for the most part it has one discipline per day, which allows you to spend more time on one thing, going farther.

Which method do you use? Which is better or more appropriate for what kind of athlete?

Thanks,
Mike

I think it depends on your schedule, how to best maximize the training time you have available.

Don't have the answer, but my thoughts are that if you are paying for a coach and he/she is reputable and you trusted the coach enough to hire him/her, trust him/her in designing your training plan. Be Luke and let Yoda be Yoda.

Oh and Cindy I just got your signature line...bumble bees are physically incabable of Flight. Cool!

I think it depends on your schedule.  For me, I have an hour before work and an hour at lunch, so I do two disciplines most days during the week, then take longer for a single discipline on the weekend when I have a bigger block of time. (At least that's the way it's supposed to work)
