thinking about getting this saddle but had some questions.the stock saddle i have on my bike has been ok for sprints but plan on doing longer ones in the future. i use to do long distant tours so i can and like long hours on the bike as long as i am comfortable. i had a brooks b-17 on my tour bike. does the idamo take some time to get use to or is it comfy out of the box? has everyone liked there adamo if not why? and since its shorter do you put the nose of the saddle in the same location as the old one. i tend to scoot up and ride the nose alot. thanks

No the nose goes back further and you ride off the front. It helps to alleviate problems like numbness that some experience. No reason to get it if your saddle is fine.

The Adamo is hit or miss it seems.  There are a few threads on here about it.  I find that most of the time, I sit on the nose with my boys hanging over the front.  More so when in the aero position.  When sitting up, I move around a bit.

yeah my stock seat isnt that comfy after about 25-30 miles. which adamo seat is best for forward aero riding? i have noticed several models and have read some think the road offers better comfort in aero than the race....

I ride the Adamo Road saddle and use it for all training and races now.  It took me about three rides to get used to it.  I'm fine with traditional saddles for most distances, frankly, but started to get numbness when I moved up to IM training.  ISM saddle performed as advertised for me.

I have the "race".  Works well for me including 100+ mile rides.  Much more comfortable in aero than not, so recommend you plan to stay aero.

It took me about 3 long rides of two hours or more to get used to it.  Also, don't be afraid to take along a tool set and adjust the saddle during rides.  I found that to be very helpful.

Feels like riding a 2X4 the first three or four rides. Relief for the unit is immediate. Been hearing good things about the Cobb V flow too.

For me it was comfy out of the box but I was having such pressure issues anything was better!

To do it over I'd get the road version instead. Do a search on STY and Adamo and you'll find some of his posts regarding the two.

Regarding the setup, the ISM FAQ has this document.

The racing saddle is not comfy on the seating bones but it is sure relief for the boys.

I like mine a lot.

Heaven staight out of the box. Instant relief from my numbness issues. It is a pretty stiff saddle and on rides over 90km it tends to start feeling pretty firm. I have read a few threads on ST about guys that get the Road or Typhoon is they are doing full IM distance races. For Half or shorter I find it amazing.

Like others have said though, it seems to be a love it or hate it saddle.

ISM saddles are the Howard Stern's or bike saddles, you either love them or hate'm. I tried it but it seemed to wide for me at the nose and if that is the case for you as well, give the Cobb V-flow Plus or Max a try. Basically the same concept as the ISM but a little narrower at the nose. Best of all the Cobb saddle has a 180 day money back guarantee.

My experience...

I was dealing with some major numbness down below riding a conventional saddle on rides for more than 4 hours.  I had serious issues after my IM.

So I swithched to the Adamo.  At first, I just switch one problem for the another.  The Adamo has a wider nose, so I was getting some serious chaffing in my groin at my inner thighs but NO numbness.  Then I found a cycling website that shows you how to set up your Adamo correctly to deal with the change in geomtry/design.  They suggested having just a slight downward angle and they tell you how to adjust it front to back for the propper fit.  After making the changes, the chaffing went away and now it fits GREAT.  Love it.

In fact, I just bought a road bike and I took it out on a 4.5 hour ride witht the standard stock saddle.  Numbness returned...  I need to get another Adamo for the road bike.
