Swim
Comments: I really enjoyed the swim. The pace may have been a little too relaxed, but I was comfortable when coming out of the water. There was one point of bad navigation on the way out, so I'll need to be more careful, as always. What would you do differently?: Pace a little harder. Sight a little more. Transition 1
Comments: Not sure what happened here - it didn't feel like 3 minutes. One thing I need to do next time is not talk to the family standing around the transition area. Also, don't forget the rubber bands! The recorded time may have seemed longer since the sensor for the timing chips was placed down at the beach and not at the bikes. What would you do differently?: Run more from the swim, remember the rubberbands. Bike
Comments: I tried eating a Snicker's Marathon energy bar on the ride and it was very difficult to manage the bar. Also, the heavy, sticky bar was difficult to eat while breathing hard. I don't really like the gels, so need to look for a good liquid fuel. What would you do differently?: Pick up a slightly harder pace, try to eat a little more, not slow to enjoy the view. Transition 2
Comments: Nearly fell on someone's grandma while dismounting the bike. Need to actually practice that one. I lost contact between my foot and the bike shoes. What would you do differently?: Maintain contact between bottom of feet and top of shoes. Need to maintain tension with left pedal while taking right foot out of shoe. Run
Comments: The run course was very nice and there were plenty of aid stations. The problems on the run were partially ability (running is still my weakest) but mostly mental. I ended up walking way too much and wasn't pushing myself much. What would you do differently?: Visualize, push harder, find a pacer, not walk, not suck Post race
Warm down: Walk around, shower What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim: effort Bike: effort Run: Mental focus, drive Transitions: Planning, focus, distractions Event comments: DRC did a great job, the volunteers did awesome with the aid stations and there were plenty of volunteers. I actually had fun on 2/3 of the course. Last updated: 2009-10-01 12:00 AM

We stayed the night at the wife's parent's house again, and I slept alone this time - good idea. Slept well, had 1 cup of coffee and went to the race site. Laid out transition and then had to go back to car to get bike computer. Had some GI upset, probably due to spicy food the night before and nerves may have played a role. Forgot rubber bands for the shoes on the bike, so planned to mount the bike with shoes already on when coming out of T1.
Sufficient jogging and stretching while the 4 waves of the 70.3 started.
