Subject: Road Biking Shoe question
So, I have a pair of road cycling shoes that I really like. I purchased them a couple of months ago and have really begun to enjoy them. They have a three strap enclosure. I'd like to use them for the tri season in 2010. However, I worry about wasting time during transitions with the three straps. Have you ever seen any kind of a "conversion strap" that would somehow combine all three straps into one? I haven't been able to find anything like this so far.

Duct tape, but it adds grams.

My road shoes I only undo one strap sometimes two.

In short races (sprints or olys) I wear my tri shoes.

I was concerned about the same thing but it really has been a non issue.  I leave the bottom one strapped and make the top two as loose as possible.  If it is slower, it's not by much.  Getting them off before T2 while still riding is the tricky part.  The straps go the wrong way with non tri specific shoes and you have the extra strap to deal with.

I really have no problems with mine.  It takes less time to undo all three (or do up) than it does to put on my running shoes - even with yankz on them.

Some thing that seems to work for me...
A short way before T2 dismount, I will losen the straps...on mine it is fairly easy to pull the velcro (I only do on the largest strap) then reattach it around 1/2 inch or so from fully lose. This keeps the strap "attached" so it won't get in chain etc, but is easily lose enough to slip foot out and put on top of the shoe. I am a newbie, but haven't splatted doing this yet (but I did practice a ton in a parking lot first).

PS: getting on, same in reverse...have strap as loose as I can, while still having a little velcro attached...shoe attached to pedal. For me tis easier to hop on feet on top and then slip them in later.
