Hi all,

I've been running for a couple of years now, started cycling about a year ago, and now am tempted to start training for my first tri next year. I can swim, but only a little, so that is a bit of a worry at the moment. Any tips and hints would be most appreciated.

I look forward to learning from all of you and hopefully being able to contribute in some way too.

Cheers,

didge Smile

Welcome to BT - for getting into triathlon there is no better place!

Ring your local pool and find out about adult swim classes for starters... some pointers in the right direction from the beginning means you will start off swimming with good form which will make it SO much easier for you.

One you have a handle on the basics of swimming you can join a masters group or your local tri club for swim sessions and you wont believe how fast it will come with the right technique from the beginning.

As with everything swimming is about consistency - swim regularly... 3 times a week would be good when you are learning and make sure what you are doing you are doing right and you will improve!

Happy Training!

Hi Didge, listen to Cat, she knows! Swimming is all about consistancy. I must echo Cat's remarks and encourage you to get some lessons to develop good form, then plenty of time in the water. There is no substitute.

Good luck!
