I know there has been speculation recently of Ironman 70.3 taking over the Spirit of Racine (WI) event. It's now official and up on the site. Set for July 18, 2010. As a former Wisconsite I may be heading that way in the summer. Here's the link:

Lots of WI peeps are passing on the SOR 70.3 and going to an alternate event in northern WI that costs less.

My wife and I recently transplanted to Milwaukee, and I've heard really good things about the 70.3 in door county.  I've read that people think its marked/aid stationed better then IM series events.

I just committed to the sprint event in Door County, its the day before the half.

lodging/camping in the area is at a premium in summer, so book it NOW if you want to go.

A friend and I both signed up for that one last Thursday.  Have a wedding to attend the weekend of Steelhead so this one worked out perfectly.

It's the same course as the SOR was but costs $80 more.  The bike is mostly flat with some annoying washboard sections.  I dodged plenty of water bottles that got launched and one guy in front of me lost the whole cage mount under his seat.  Don't be fooled by the run through the zoo... it mostly goes through the dumpster area.  I think you can see some bird exhibit if you are going slow enough to look.
