They said there are only two more weeks left.  But with 5 contestants will they whittle 3 out next week and have 2 battle it out the final week?

Two more weeks on the ranch.  Then they will be down to the final 3 who come back in 5 months for the finale.

I thought the makeovers were horrible.  NO ONE looked good.  Liz and Rebecca's new haircuts were hideous.  Though, Rebecca was almost unrecognizable on Leno...maybe the makeup?

I can't believe she's dating Daniel either.  He's SO much younger than her!  WTF?

So they don't declare a winner in two weeks??  What happens during those 5 months?  Do they just train on their own?

Brian

Yep, they train at home for those 5 or 6 months or however long it is. Which is why the "big reveal" at the finale is so dramatic. They usually loose a LOT of weight from the final show on the ranch to the season finale.

They taped this season 5 or 6 months ago, so the viewer only sees a one-week time difference but in reality it was 5 or 6 months.

The contestants go home and train on their own. Rudy and Danny can both lose another 100lbs. on their own.

The age difference between Rebecca and Dan is not that big a deal in view of the fact that she has the maturity of a 12 year old. In fact Dan maybe too old for her.

IMO: Liz and Allen stand no chance of winning. Amanda I am very doubtful of, leaving Danny and Rudy. I am leaning toward Danny winning. If either falls below the line in the next two weeks their gone.

One question: how much weight do you think Liz and Rebecca lose through the tears they cry?

Aikidoman - 2009-11-19 11:04 AM Something about the show...

Jillian impressed me AND pissed me off this week...

I was a little put off that she yelled at Rudy about him not teller her about his sister dying.  She said "and didn't t hink this is something you should have told me?"..

She  is a TRAINER, not a shrink...  (yes, I know there is some mental aspect to getting over weight).  I think it was the way she said it, that he was supposed to tell her and was offended that he didn't...

HOWEVER, I was impressed that she tried to keep the fire fighters head up when he only lost 5 lbs.  She (and Bob) were right.  At his weight and build, losing 5 lbs in one week is amazing and they should not get caught up in the game to lose dangerous numbers.

I suspect her contract states that she gets an extra $10,000 each time she makes a contestant cry.  If not, she's just a bit evil.

How old is Daniel? Wasn't he the youngest at 18 last season... so he's either 19 or 20 now. She is 25. Five years difference does not make me say WTF, but maybe to others it does... (my bf is 5 years younger than me).

5 years when you are 35 and 30 isn't nearly as big a deal to me as 5 years when you are 20 and 25.  To ME 20 is still "college boy" and 25 is "post college".  HUGE difference in maturity happens between 20 and 25....

I guess it depends on the individual people - I don't think you can make a blanket statement that will encompass everyone.

I was 28 when I started dating my bf... he was 23 at the time...

Sorry I didn't make that clear!  Yes, that is how the "how they look today" clips at the end of the show can demonstrate more weight loss.  They were actually kicked off MONTHS before those little snippets are taped.

In fact, they are probably taping the next season on the ranch RIGHT NOW!

Post-college age.  Really, college makes all the difference in the world.

And I really do believe that as you get older the age gaps mean less.  When Rebecca was 20, Daniel was 15.  That's illegal in many states.

When she's 30 and he's 25...I wouldn't even blink.  But 25 and 20 seems off to me.

yeah, but totally irrelevant !

There are married couples who are 10 years apart... "when husband was 20, wife was 10 -- EW!" .. who cares? they are adults now and they were when they got married.

20 and 25 may seem off to you, but 5 years, over the age of 18 (we're not talking a 12 yr old and a 17 yr old) isn't a big deal, IMO.

My wife jokes that when I was at the bar drinking, she was 9.  She asked me if I saw her at 9, with a beer in my hand, would I ever think I would be married to her...  GROSS!!!!

I saw that too.  What is it?  Or what does it do?

Some kinda device that measures input and output. Or maybe just output. No idea how though! They explained how it worked in one of the first episodes, but very vaguely.

Okay I googled and here is what it is and how it works... only $199!

Thanks for looking it up Lisa!!!  Kind of a neat little device.

A friend had one and it estimates total calories burned in the day based on HR, and other things it 'senses'.  You have to wear it 24/7 basically to get an accurate count.

That downloads into the computer where you have to carefully (if you want the best results) log in all the calories you take in during the day.

I considered it for a minute as a neat tool HOWEVER, I was disapointed that you need to pay for the computer service.  It's not software, but a web site.  The cost per month to download and do the analysis was prohibitive to me for what I got.  Something like 50 bucks a month AFTER the original purchas of the bug...

If they gave you software instead of paying to log in to the body bug site, I would have considered it.

***Yes, they actually are already taping season 9 right now.  My mom and I figured out basically when these were taped because of the tri that Dane did since he was visiting week 8.  This "week" for kicking off was either the last week in July or the first week in april (if they go off a true 7 day week at the ranch and don't make it longer.

So, when Rebecca was on Leno Tuesday night, it has been almost 3 months since she left the ranch.

I'm ok with her leaving.  Would rather have seen Liz go.  But what a punk azz, wussy excuse Rudy gave.  Sorry, I'm not buying it.  If he truly had an issue with her, then he should have man'd up and brought it up earlier.  I think it was his wussy way out of making a hard decision.  Personally, I lost all kinds of respect for him with that little stunt.

OK - so I finally watched it last night and could get on this thread.

I thought the same thing about Rudy, he made up a BS excuse so he could get rid of someone who is a threat. Liz is a threat to no one.

I told my wife basically the same thing, I had wanted Rudy to win but after that BS/LAME reason - I am rooting for him to go.

It's sad to know that many of the contestants gain some if not most of their weight back.

I have looked at pictures of past contestants and that is usually the case 2-3-4 years later.

Something about the show...

Jillian impressed me AND pissed me off this week...

Well what has pissed me off about Jillian lately are her "weight loss" commercials on TV.

She is endorsing "fat burning pills" with her name stamped on them. WTF? REALLY?

Just seems to go completely against her "eat right and workout to lose weight" ideals. Ya know?

They have a where are they now show on Wednesday night. It will be interesting how many people they show who have gained the weight back.

I think the main problem is the contestants lose weight while working out 5-6+ hours per day and having only good food in the fridge, and never eating out.

That is not real world. They need to do a better job of teaching people how to live in the real world.

I always look around at the home visits - who has a fat wife and kids, the food that is out (cupcakes?) etc.  That to me is the better indication of their success and the probability that they will fall back into thier old habits.
