Subject: IM swim question
I have a question for the ones that have done an IM, especially IMAZ people. How did your swim time compare to your pool swim times for the same distance? What length of pool did you swim in?

For me it was a little slower, mainly because I didn't have 100 people to swim around in my pool. Plus I tried to turn one bouy too soon and got off course a little at the actual turn around. Other than that it was pretty darn close. 1:18 in AZ. I don't remember what my time was in the pool (25 yards) but it was close to that.
My long slow pace in the pool was around 1:40-1:45/ 100 yards. I will let you do the math for AZ.

I did 4000 meters in a 25-meter pool in 1:13, with no wetsuit.

My swim split at IMAZ was 1:13, in a wetsuit.  However, the return leg of the swim was against the current/wind.

For me they've been just a little better. I think the drafting has a huge impact on IM swim times as so many athletes all going in the same direction creates quite a current - in your direction.
