I've been signed up for quite a while for this one. This will be my 1st Tri! I am doing the Oly and then the full IM @Cedar Point where I live. Found a cheap hotel and simply hoping to log a decent time and learn the transitions etc. Really only using this race as a training goal for he IM in Sept.

Hope to see everyone in Knoxville!

I'll be doing the Oly at this one. Revisiting old college stomping grounds for the first time in more than a decade...eek.

Anyway, if y'all see a slow girl with pink hair, wave hi. Hah!

I am in.  I have been signed up for a while but life has been in the way.  Wish everyone a good race week and I am hoping that the half will be beautiful and not to hilly.  Has anyone been on the bike course lately?  Does anyone know the number of total participants with olympic racers? Thanks

How's the training going? I am starting to get excited.  Since I will be out there from Tuesday night on with my children's gymnastics nationals, I will be there long enough hopefully to see a lot of the pros getting prepared.  Depending on how busy they are and available time, I'd like to get a  ride the bike course.  Should be a great trip.

Is there going to be athelete tracking for the Half Rev people?  Is the river flooding in Knoxville?

I know Nashville is getting pummeled,  with a loop swim a strong current could make the upstream portion quite interesting.

Anyone from the area an update would be great!

This is off the Rev3 website under the swim tab for the race!

Rev3 Knoxville Swim Update:

The heavy rain and floods in western Tennessee have had little impact on the flow in the section of river we will be swimming.  We are being updated daily by the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority).  As of Monday they felt the slight increase in flow would be back to normal by Wednesday of Race Week.  The plan continues to include TVA controlling the damns to keep the current / flow minimal for athletes Race Day.  If conditions change we will update you here on the website

The river looks pretty calm but dirty. A fair number of snakes, but kind of typical. Hope to get on to part of the bike course.

What does "...a fair number of snakes" mean?  Generally if snakes are referred to in the plural form it is more than a "fair" amount.  Is the TN river usually a hotbed for snakes.

I am not from around here, just happen to be in town. I did see four of them as I walked along the shore down toward calhoun's. They are mostly swim close to the shoreline. I do swim in a resevoir and I see as many or more but have never run into any when swimming. I doubt any will be seen on race day. We will be getting in a ways out from the shore off a pier I believe. I am more concerned about hills on the bike than I am snakes. I don't think it will be a fast course, but should be fun. If the weather stays the way it is, it will be awesome.

Thank God my wife does not visit this site, we would be out $225 if she saw the snakes post! lol  I hope she does not see any before the race.  I just hope they are not water snakes as I have been bit by them and it hurts like he&&.  The water cannot be much worse than the IMKY swim that is quite nasty.  Good luck to all and safe travels!

Wet suits are a wonderful thing. I agree I doubt it is any different than any other river swim. I shouldn't have said anything. It should be a great race. The temps are going to be favorable. Look forward to a good day.

You guys are killing me!!!  Now I have to worry about river snakes biting me?!  Eek!  I'm headed over to the expo in a few hours, just resting for the day in our cabin we rented in Pigeon Forge.  Feet up, check, lots of water, check, nap, check!  Perfect pre-race day!

PS- for anybody that is at the expo tomorrow I'll be hanging out at the Trakkers booth (look for green) giving away First Endurance goodies tomorrow at 10:30 am.  Come say hi!!

Who is in for the Knoxville HalfREV this year?  I loved the course last year (except that last darn hill on the run) so I'll be back for another attempt at a PR!  (I did get my PR last year!)  Registration closes end of April and hotel rooms are getting full!!

We have 5 coming down from Ohio/MI.  I had a PW (personal worst) after a nasty crash on the bike.  Hope the construction on the roads around the stadium is done this year.

Does it state somewhere that it closes the end of April? Just wondering.

I received an email saying that it closed at the end of April, but I am already signed up.

I havent seen this posted anywhere, but does anyone know what the course nutrition will be on race day? I assume it will be Gatorade Endurance and GU (race sponsors) but I want to be sure.
