WHAT?!

we've been moved to archive thread. Does this mean we are done? Do I need to join a new group for april-june? I'm confused.

It kind of looks that what.  According the the "What Now" thread, it sounds like Mark can offer to mentor again and we can just continue on.  If that's true then that's how I would cast my vote.

me to. what say you mark?

x3.  Maybe reserve spots for the active ones here and get some new blood in?  Eagleone, Richfit, and JGatz haven't posted in quite a long time.  Heck, JGatz has a race in three days and hasn't checked in at all.

Definitely need to get LostSheep in here, as well, if we re-institute the group.

We can carry-on here, or I'll apply for a summer thread.

Up to you guys.

I like Jacques' idea of starting a new thread and getting some new blood.

Apply to do a new one.

Honestly the two guys who had private logs were the ones who disappeared.  I'd probably insist that anyone new joining have open logs.

Still here guys. Mark tnks for asking.   I have been having to travel and have been in meetings the last 10 days.  This week my daughter and her family came to visit.  When I have not been working or working out I have been spending time with them.  I am off today and about to go out for a 13 mile run.  I was in Atlanta Sunday through Friday of last week and this week I had meeting with the people who work for me.  Anyway I am still here.  I hate to see our group in now in the mentor archives.  I am all for starting a new one.  Just send or post a message when we do this.  I am doing the St Pete Triathon Olympic distance in a couple of weeks. Mark when are you coming down for the Disney race?

While we are waiting for the new thread to open up I have to add a completely self-serving post here. File it under "Swim suits really DO make a difference".

Tried out my new race jammer today. That suit is good for 4sec/100, easy. I was cruising through 100yd sets at as low as 1:10 (push off, open turns). I think off the blocks with flip turns I'm good for sub 1:00 with this thing. Set a new PR in a 500 at 6:55. The other 4 500s I did were no higher than 7:05. And it wasn't that hard. Awesome, awesome, awesome. I probably won't break it out again until my May swim. That way I'll really feel like I'm flying during the race. Nothing like a free speed boost on race day.

What kind did you buy?

Yingfa 4902.  Pretty decent for cheap.

Might as well spit out a race report. Did my Time Trial today at Oak Mountain (Mark, you know the course). Pretty laid back - only 20 or so participants. Nice folks, though. I did this because it is the course for my first tri in June. No aero stuff on, just regular old bike, aerobars, and me. The course ended up being 11.4 miles, a bit shorter than the tri, but all the tough stuff is in the middle of the course. ~1,250 ft. of climbing - not sure if you experienced folks would call that hilly or not. I think it is. wink1.gif

My benchmark was 20mph, as that would put me in good shape in the tri. Managed 20.5mph (and won the TT by 7 seconds). Pretty happy with that. I think I may have left a bit on the table, but my average HR was 171 for the course and it hit 180 for the last mile. So not too far off of what I can do. Hopefully when the race comes better tires, disc cover, and aero helmet will buy me a bit more time.

Nice job on the TT.  The BB course is hilly in my book.  Way worse than IMKY.  You'll be surprised what aero equipment will save you.

I had a pretty good week,

S:
700.00 Yd
B:
54.81 Mi (3h 22m 26s)
R:
22.75 Mi (3h 23m 03s)

Only got one swim in.  My group swim class (kinda like a masters program for beginners) was canceled which screwed things a bit.  I'm trying to make the switch between running all the time and swimming or biking when I could to hitting all three on a regular basis.  Frankly, it would be pretty easy to cover everything if my wife didn't expect me to use some of that time to do things around the house...

In other news, are we getting a new thread?  I keep checking the list of new/open mentor groups and haven't seen one yet.
