Redondo Beach for me.  Feel like a little kid getting ready for the first day of school, went out and bought all the notebooks, pens, new Partridge Family lunchbox, toughskins (dating myself here).

Dreamt about doing a tri for so many years, and it's finally here!!!  It's all I can think about here at work.  And all for a sprint... can't imagine what the gear up for an IM must feel like.

I just want Sunday to get here FAST!!!

Chris

Uh-oh, we must be about the same age- but they never made toughskins for girls.  I guess they assumed that only boys wore out the knees.

Good luck on your first race!  I'm doing my 3rd tri ever this weekend and I think I'm just as nervous as the first time.

Cool! Actually, I still have my "Kung Fu" lunchbox What about your Trapper-Keeper? You do have a Trapper-Keeper, right???

In all seriousness. Sunday will be here before you know it - although the next few days will certainly not feel like it.

By the way, I'm glad to see that work is finally cooling off enough that you have some spare attention to devote to daydreaming about your race

Also doing my first tri this weekend. The Eagle Man 1/2 in Cambridge MD.

And we must be the same age also. I recently bought a Partridge Family Greatest Hits CD for my kids. After they listened to it they called me a Dork.

Saturday will be my second tri, but I still have my Partridge Family lunchbox.  Maybe I ought to take it. . .

I'm in for Redondo this weekend.  First one for me as well.  Can't tell you how nervous I am, but I know it's going to go great.  I don't feel totally ready but I am not really concerned about when I finish...just that I do finish.  I figure I can start working on speed and efficiency once I get the first one out of the way.

I have my first Tri this Sunday. Its NY Tri Series 1 at Lake Sebago. I'm really nervous, because I'm not a great swimmer, but I've been working on my stroke to kinda glide through the water than to tr to swim it. Its super hilly too!

But if I don't go for it, the what the hell was the point of all those hours in the pool, brick workouts and all the gear, Bike, Wetsuit, etc.

It's gonna be nuts, and even if it takes me like 3 hours, I' gonna finish it just for bragging rights to my friends at the gym that spend all their time lifting wieghts and avg about 20 mins of cardio a week.

Good luck to you all fellow first timers and other newbz. This is what we train for!!!

Jennifer,

Congrats on taking the leap to enter ThunderGust - it's one of my favorite events! My race report from '04 has some additional detail about the course and is posted here if you're curious.

It's always great to meet other athletes actually in person vs just on the web, so if you're around on race morning, please swing by my rack in case you have any last minute jitters which need settling :o) .......BIB #'s are posted here.

Hope to see you there - good luck!

Brian and Jenn,

I am also doing Thunergust Tri this weekend as my first tri as well.  I went to Pine Barrens a few weeks ago as a Volunteer, but Saturday will be my first race. My bib number is 119; I hope to meet you both.

Dirk,

Sounds good, glad to soon have another member of the tri-club - nothing like your 1st race. I look fwd to meeting both of you so please swing by. The best part of this sport is getting to meet people from all over.

B/c I won last year I have BIB#1, but this year I'm definitely not expecting anything spectacular (I may be wearing BIB#500 in '06, if you know what I mean :o)

See you there!
