Hi all, I was wondering if you knew of any olympic or sprint tri's in the western washington area. My cousin is coming to visit my parents this summer some time and he wants to do a race with me so I am trying to find something. If it is closer to Auburn/Federal way/seattle that would be sweet but it's not necessary. It would need to be in late may-early august. I'm not having too much luck with the race finder.

Lake Stevens half ironman is in August. It doesn't have the best reviews. I'm doing it this year, it's my first tri

The two I have planned are the Issaquah around Memorial Day weekend (though I haven't seen the 2010 schedule yet) and the Bonney Lake Sprint & Oly Labor Day weekend.

Couer d'Alene has an Oly 8/7 that I'm also considering.

Lake Chelan OLY in Mid- July is a good one (about 3 hrs from Seattle - but it is a beautiful area)
Lake stevens HIM - as previously mentioned, is a good race.  Well ran (as are most 70.3  events), really pretty with a fairly hilly bike.
Midsummer Triathlon - in portland (3 hr drive), - early august - flat

Here's a link to a website that has quite a few tri's listed.

5 mile lake in June is right in the area you described.

The Seafair triathon isn't listed - July 18th this year - 1/2 mi swim, 13mi bike, 5k run. It's big & crowded, but good support and after-race stuff was pretty good.

Take a look at Cascade Edge. I think it is around that time frame and has an olympic and a sprint. It is a great race too.

Check BuDu Racing for a good series of events in western Washington (as well as a few in eastern Washington). I'll be working with these folks a lot this year with race support, I've known them for YEARS (I used to bike race with the owner), and they put on quality events.

I second this.  They put on the best races and they are extremely friendly

The Federal Escape race is outstanding. Not crowded at all, everyone is really friendly the course isn't too tough. You've got the choice of oly or sprint. Check that one out.

www.trifreak.com is the website.
