I feel the same ^^ It was my first last year, so I *think* I want to do it, but I haven't been able to run yet, (post-surgery) and I've barely been on the bike this winter. I'm making up for the biking in a Feb challenge, but the running's a little iffy... I could always walk it, right? (I mean, if all else fails... but there's a long time between now and May!) I have done one tri each of the last two years (Danskin in 2008 and Trek in 2009) and they were later in the season. I was researching cold water swimming yesterday :+) Janine |

The bike was torture and I walked 3/4 of the run. By Fantastic 9/09 I had completed "6" triathlons, lost 30 pounds and new my way around a course. My point is you never know what to expect and I always think, "What other people think of me is none of my business". |

Season Opener last year was my first tri. I sucked big time. I was so far back they thought I was part of the cleaning crew :-) Just have fun and finish! It's impossible to be subject to public humiliation - anyone who shows up to race gets automatic immunity! |

You can monitor your splits but my guess is unless your doing a lot of BRICKS you will find distorted times and that transitions will be a learning experience. What I think you will be amazed with, as was I, is how much your times will improve between beg of your first season and the end.I am racing in this event too, although recovering from my first Boston Marathon - so hope to meet you.Have fun and enjoy the race, there is only one first. |

Nah, I'll be the one next to you using you as my pacer... and huffing and puffing all the while  General question on this tri... Do they provide a cap? I thought they did this to identify the wave. I would HIGHLY recommend "double capping" as the water is pretty cold and this will help to keep the heat from your head in. I would also suggest earplugs for this race. Many people experience dizziness when the cold water enters their ears. If you are properly covered in cold water swims they arent all that bad. This is a swim that requires a wetsuit. Although there were a few CRAZY people who did it without a wetsuit the last two years.... I dont think that is wise. |

Things are good, we added a race down in Onset, MA - Escape the Cape! You can enter the state park in Hopkinton by auto through the front entrance. Parking is limited to the are of our Transition spot. From there, you are welcome to run or snow shoe your way through the run course. Please know that the gates are locked (where you normally run down the path onto the Reservoir Path). See you out there! Tim |
