Hi...

I'm considering buying my first road bike. Some avid cyclists at work have recommended the Azzurri Milano with Shimano 105 componentry...it has an aluminium frame-set...

Anyone have any thoughts on this bike?

Cheers gff

My thought are to get the best components you can afford. I had to quickly but a second bike because the 105s were not cutting it.

Azzurris (at least here in Oz) seem to give phenomenal bang for buck compared to many others at the same price point... I would say 105 minimum for a new cyclist is a great start...

My first bike was 105/alu and it was 5 years before I upgraded... yeah its nice having the pricey stuff but 105 will get you through any race you want to do... while still giving you a nice ride which is great to start out on.

So... just get fitted and check that it is the right fit your YOU!

105 is more than adequate.

I get tired of hearing cyclists with too much money say that 105 is not good enough, It's a great groupset and I would only spend more if you want a lighter weight bike.

the 105s were on my first road bike, it lasted me a year before i wanted to upgrade.  Last summer i was doing century rides every sunday and two 30 mile hill/mountain rides on the 105s and they held up pretty good.   i can tell a huge difference since i bought my new bike a few months ago, but i think for the money its a great starter component.

Thanks all for the feedback...I will stick with the recommendation I've been given - attractive because I'm getting a good deal on it too...
