HELP!

I got a new pair of Speedo Vanquisher swim goggles.  They didn't fog the first swim but have every swim since, I get about 2 lengths of the (25yd) pool and they're fogged.  I rinse them with cool water as perscribed in the directions and when I get home they are IMMEDIATELY out of their case (which they are stored in for the trips) to air dry.  Has anyone else had trouble with these "anti-fog" goggles fogging up?  if so what do you use, or how can I help this?

My anti-fog solution is to use a 50/50 mix of baby shampoo and water.  Rub it on the inside of googles, let sit for a minute or two and rinse with clean water.  You should be able to still see a film of shampoo when done.  I get two or three swims out of each application.

Some people will swear up and down that spitting in their goggles works for them.  In 20 years of swimming I've never been able to get it to work for me.

Spit works for me.

I should add that 50% if the time I forget to rinse them off after swimming and they always go straight into my gym bag , not drying or putting back in the case.

I wish spit would work for me, much easier This topic seems to come up frequently and it seems like spitting in goggles works for 2/3 or so of the people that try it. Everyone else swears by their work-around.

Personally, I spit in them

rinse in the pool, spit in them, rub it around and you're good to go...

or you could buy a really small tube of aquafresh tootpaste - a very small dab smeared around and lightly rinsed works wonders too...

I use spit in training as well due to its availability and ease of use while I am in the the pool.  I use the anti-fog drops prior to a race as it seems to work a little better.

I only wear Vanquishers, and I've found that the original anti-fog coating washes off really fast.  Spit and/or Speedo's anti-fog spray both help me alot.  I came to the conclusion years ago that a little fogging is going to happen no matter what you do.  It's only a problem with it gets so bad that I can't see my watch, wall clock, wall at the end of the pool, or marker buoys during a race.

Haha. I was gonna suggest that. I swam competitively for years and I always licked the inside of the goggles and dipped them in the pool to rinse before putting them on before a race.  I never had any of the "anti fog" goggles though.  I always raced with some cheap $5 Sweedish goggles.  Never had much trouble.

I've also heard of the baby shampoo and some people claim it works well but I've never tried it.

Spit! I have worn every kind of brand name google for many years and do this. I swish the goggles in the water, spit in them, then rinse. I dont know if I have ever had a race or workout that it didnt work. Of course, now that I have said this.....

Spit doesn't work for me with my Blue Seventy's. I usually just deal with it but I will try the toothpaste thing.

Spit never worked for me either.  Neither did sprays nor dawn dish soap nor baby shampoo that had been suggested to me.  The only thing that works for me are the foggle wipes.  I wipe the goggles when they're dry just before I head into the pool.  I then put the air-dried goggles on my dry face, and they never fog.  If I make any missteps (ie wet goggles or wet face, or try to take them off and put them back on during a work-out, I get fog again).  I wish spit worked for me, alas!

Baby shampoo and water mixture works for me but I had to experiment with the ratio to get it right.  I think someone said 50/50 above but that is way to high for me.  Probably more like 10/90 and I just give the goggles a quick rinse but don't rinse them with water afterwards.  And once I put it on, I don't take the goggles off my face!  I usually only do this for a race.  For a normal workout, I just go with the spit or I wipe them with my fingers after each rep...

A really good product I found is Foggle by SBR. It is a wipe which you can reuse 5-6 times each use lasts a while. Cleans and defogs. I used them for my ski goggles originally and then tried them for my swim goggles and I have been really happy with it.

Always keep a small travel-sized bottle of baby shampoo in my bag. Rub on a thin layer of the stuff, quick rinse in the pool, and am good for a couple weeks.

I just bought a pair of Vanguisher's and will try them out tomorrow morning.  I've been swimming for a year with some cheap $8 pair of Leader goggles I got at Wal-Mart that are now scratched up because I just threw them in the gym bag, on the pool deck etc.  They don't fog or leak.  Wouldn't that be a hoot if my new $15 goggles fogged or leaked.  Keep you posted......

I think they still sell those cheap Leaders at Wal-Mart.
