Pre-race routine:

Swim meets make boring race reports but I writye them to be able and re-read 6 months later

This was not an important event for me, but I did want to use the opportunity to see if I could properly pace myself. I ran too much yesterday (2hrs), because my weekly training goals was more important than this meet.

The goal was to go out easy, be as consistent as possible and push the last 100m. 200-700 was intended to be 'long and strong' strokes.

Event warmup:

Did 800m, 200m paced, then 100s paced.
Swim
  • 12m 45s
  • 800 meters
  • 01m 35s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

I did not push hard enough. I wanted to figure out pacing. I remember being at 600m and saying "this doesn't hurt". This would be ok if I had a bike and run to do. I guess I wanted both to push it and pace it.

At least my the last 3 100s were faster than #2,#3,#4 and #5. #1 is always the fastest.

Lap 1 is always too fast, I really held back.
I didn't feel like my form was suffering at 500m but the coach said I was fighting the water more. Need to focus on long&strong.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't push myself enough

Event comments:

Well organized.
