Another sad story.  Please try to be safe.  Beautiful high school senior abducted last week while running in a popular park.

I live here and it is just so sad.  I was home sick this week and watched the arraignment and all the news conferences.  As a woman and a runner, it really hits home.

RIP Chelsea King

This prompted me to look at the sexual offender registry in my area this morning. A guy convicted of multiple sexual assaults lives just a few blocks away.  Just great.

Here's to finding a training partner and being even more careful from here on out.  While frustrating to have to think about this every time we step out our doors, I'd rather be aware that it's there and be prepared for anything.

I hold her and her family in my thoughts.

As a father, I can tell you that this man would be dead right now.  Any attempt to justify allowing this guy on this planet sickens me.

As a father of two daughters this guy would still be alive because I would still be peeling his skin off his body inch by inch while he was able to experience the fear, pain, terror, brutality that he had put his victim through

I hope he meets a guy in jail similar to who Dahmer met his demise, but survives, and the acts are attempted for the rest of his life in jail.

It never ceases to amaze me when I see women running by themselves at a downtown running path when it is dark.  There is usually at least one incident a year on the trail.

A local runner's club has a buddy system for women who want safe running companions.

It sucks that something like that is necessary, but creeps like the guy in the article are out there.

If you must run by yourself at compromising times, at least carry mace and a cell phone.

FYI, they just found the body of the other girl that has been missing for a year, Amber Dubois.  She was 14 years old and on her way to school with a check to buy a lamb for FFA when she disappeared.  She was found in a very remote area, which leads me to believe that the dirt bag in custody for Chelsea King may have given them her location.

Very very very sad.  And makes me glad I always run with my dog.  The last time I ran alone I passed a guy that just didn't strike me as an early morning hiker on a fairly rugged desolate trail.  My current running buddy is a brindle pit bull/lab mix -- a very intimidating looking sweetheart of a dog

That would be Scarver....one really twisted dude. Very calculating and cold blooded. What doesnt get as much press is he killed two that day. A good friend of mine was one of the first on scene when that happened. Very brutal and very disgusting.
