I didn't workout the last 3 days.  1 of those should have been a normal scheduled rest day (Sat), but the other 2 days should have each inc. a bike and run.  I've been really stressed lately and also slept awefully last week and my last workout on Thursday was horrible - I had NO energy at all.  I decided I'd skip Friday's workout and had all intentions of doing Sunday's, but I never did.  We went to NH Sat-Sun and I just felt aweful on Sunday when I got home.  My stomach was quesey (might have been the car ride or not eating as well as usual and having drinks 2 nights in a row) and I still had very little energy.   Up until this week, I'd only missed 1 workout in the last 3 months and that was a recovery week bike workout.  Now my tri is less than 3 weeks away and this is my last week w/ increased times.   Please tell me this won't make a huge difference!?!

It won't so stop freaking out. 3 days aint gonna kill you. When you start your next workout give yourself a prolounged period of warm up. You'll be feeling better in no time at all.

If you've only missed 1 workout in 3 months,I'd say you've likely shown more dedication to training than the average!

Feeling stressed, nauseated, tired, but not sleeping well could all be signs that you're body is asking for a rest - perhaps a little overtrained, or just need a day or two off. Take it.

Missing the odd day in a training plan is not going to make any difference in the big picture. My training plateaued a few weeks ago due to other commitments and in the last two weeks before my first tri I was out of town at conferences for one of them and had a hard time getting in any workouts all week. The next week I just seemed to lack motivation and so in the 14 days prior to my race I only did a couple solid workouts. It didn't mean anything race day.

Somehow, you manage to pull a little extra out of yourself you didn't know was there and you will surprise yourself with what you are actually able to acheive.

3 days off is nothing. It may actually help you by giving your body and mind a break from training.

Just get out there and do a good workout and you'll be back into the routine.

Good Luck

Like others have said 3 days isn't going to make any difference. Especially with the 3 month base you have already built.

Feeling buggered and without energy can be a sign of over training, so maybe you just needed a good rest. If that is the case the time you have had to rest will probably do you good.

Hey life happens...sounds like you were on the verge of overtraining anyway. Ask your coach to modify your training schedule.

Don't stress, I just went 4 days without any training and yesterday did only 34 minutes on a trail run.  First Tri is this weekend.    Unless you are going for a Podium finish, just have fun and finish.

When in doubt - take a rest day... overall 3 days won't kill you. Check your RHR, you might be coming down with something - or - you might be overtraining.

You didn't totally screw up your training.

Well, that's what you wanted me to tell you right.

But seriously, as everyone has said, it will be NO problem at all.  Hell, I took a whole week off last month because I was sick/injured.  If that's what your body needs, then give it to it.

It will not make a difference. Stressing about it will.
You have to calm down and figure out what is wrong with your training. You may be overtrained and your body / mind just need a break.

Thank you all for your reassurance. Sometimes the pressure we put on ourselves makes things worse than what they seem.  I just felt bad about missing that much time at once because I have been so religious.  I'll get right back into it today, but carefully.  I'm definately not planning on winning and will probably come in close to last, but as long as I finish I'll be very happy.

3days ha...No you didnt. Try missing 3 weeks like I just did...Torn miniscus, sprained MCL, vacation, kids duties...I just started back and feel like I am starting over. I have 6weeks until my first tri...3 days is nothing really...You need rest days/week anyway...
