Greetings fellow crazies!

I registered as well! My wife is from Puerto Rico and I love the Island, particularly old San Juan where part of the run will take place.
The course will surely be challenging, hilly and muggy but worth every penny to race in "la Isla bonita". Plus, it's going to be Spring break so I'll probably take the whole week.
As soon as they post the course maps I'll be checking them out.

Good news my friend, no hills in the bike leg, just wind and only La Norsa Garai as the tough short hill on the run leg. Trust me, I just finished Ironman, St. George. We don't have hills at all in PR.

Any idea how quickly this will fill up?  I'm doing my first Oly Tri on August 29th and was thinking about waiting to see how that goes...

I sooo want to do this one. Not sure I can talk the hubby into it, and it kinda' messes with my semi-retirement from long-course triathlons that's supposed to start this winter, but, man, it's Puerto Rico!

hi,  I just registered last week.  This will be my first HIM.  I had to pick a nice destination race to keep the hubby interested in coming to these races.  We are both pysched as it will still be cold  here in Boston.  We will probably stay the week following to get some scuba diving in!

Never been to Puerto Rico.

What is the weather like in March?

Website says the bike will be on the North part of the island. What is the terrain like on that part of the island?

Any ideas how close this race is to selling out?

They were saying 500 slots are still left. They're hoping to sell a lot this weekend in the Miami 70.3.

Hi Jon,

In deed, the venue is the Capital of Puerto Rico, San Juan @ 5mins from the Airport.  The terrain is great, almost all flat but the wind could be a great factor on the way back (in the loop).  Feel free to ask for more and if you want to do a small travel during xmas to practice the cource our team will be more than happy to show you the area.

BTW, I meant the bike cource in regards to the wind.  Regarding the run, you will have some hills but nothing too bad.

I just signed up yesterday! I've done plenty of Olympics and sprints but this will be my first 70.3. Since I live in Puerto Rico it was a no-brainer... Also heard Lance Armstrong will be competing!

Any recommendations for renting a house during the race? I am coming with a big group from Texas and a house would be the most convenient option for us.

What are all of you planning to do in regards to shipping your bike? This will be the first time I have had to ship mine. BikeTransport does not have a participating shop in my area for this event. I have read other posts in regards to shipping and there are negatives for alot of the possibilities. I am curious as to everyones plan. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I look forward to San Juan!
