i do it now mostly to gross out my wife.  It says it needs water to make it work effectively and I'm not going to waste water letting it warm up so I just use a good lick.  Sure it tastes a little salty but its effective.

I do. If a pretzel drops on the kitchen floor at home I would not eat it on a dare, but I'll lick the sensor on my HRM after it's been sitting on the bench in the locker room of the YMCA. I guess that's one more to add the the list of "You know you are tri-crazy when..."

Thank god!  I was afraid I was the only freak who did this!  LMAO!!  At home I run a faucet on each sensor, but if I'm leaving my office for a run or ride, I just give them each a big lick!

Water alone may not be enough for a good signal.  You could add the expensive of commercial EKG electrolyte gel, but saliva works fine.  I generally put on my HRM chest strap, get some saliva on a fingertip, & apply to the strap.

No matter how tough you are, the wrong bacteria in your mouth are going to make you sick.

x2, i get a bit of saliva in my mouth (like I'm gonna spit) then I kinda squeeze some out onto my finger tip and dab a bit on each electrode area...the excess gets wiped on whatever clothing I happen to be wearing. works well for me!

Like the ol' fingers and rub that into the chest strap. Same thing, less of a bacterial issue.

I don't apply any water, spit, or gel to my HRM strap... Just snap it on & go... I've never had a problem getting it to read properly, even on dry skin.

Cheers, Chris

Is the air that humid in Minneapolis, or do you use a lot of moisturizer? Tongue out

I can get away with that during the summer months, but during the winter, my skin is just too dry.
