The last 2 days I did my usual time trial type bike ride and then my track workout today. My bike time was 10 seconds off my personal best, but with the 90 + degree heat and humidity we've had lately my avg HR was 10 beats above last weeks. The same with the run. I'm ready for spring to come back!

heat index of 102, so my workout today consists of folding laundry in front of the ac unit.

Dubai weather is tough in the Summer. My HR is up but steadily being brought under control, even if that meant me slowing down a twitch. At the times I workout temperatures range between 92F to 100F with humidity in excess of 55% very often. Very early morning, when I go for a bike ride, they may be as low as 78F but climbing fast to high 80's. This is going to be a long Summer.

Indeed it is, my Iowa brother, indeed it is!  Last nights 25 mile bike ride was a scorcher - good thing we always stop at The Shack for beer halfway through!  Tonight, I'm supposed to run 5 miles then ride my bike 10 or so miles home.  I foresee some VERY VERY slow times!  It's not the heat, it's the humidity.......well that's crap, it's both!!

Sure, rub it in. I'm from Montana (jewel of the west, of all the states from coast to coast - easily the best) but a lot of my relatives have moved to Seattle. Nice ville.

I'm forced to move my run inside today on the dreadmill so I don' t go into heat stroke. Bleck.

High 97- without considering humidity.

Hey Iowans, can you fix up some more moderate temps for...say the last week in July?

Got my run in this morning (a nice 66F) before the heat soared. I can't fathom running with temps n the 90's...you are some tough stock!

My first summer in Houston, I didn't tri train. Instead, I practiced Muay Thai (that's Thai-style kickboxing; yes, like the movie "Kickboxer;" no, not like "Tai Bo") in an old-warehouse-converted-to-boxing-studio that was just begging to be used as a film set where the script called for "gritty". No A/C, of course.

The rule of thumb I developed that summer was: if actual air temperature is WARMER than my normal body temperature, then take it a little easier. Not, "don't train," just train slower. Yeah, we boxed when it was 100, 101 degrees. In Houston's humidity. Sick puppies, those Muay Thai people.

For this afternoon's Houston BT Training Run it will "only" be 92 real degrees out (heat index 95), so we're fine!

Does anyone else feel like their training progress has come screeching to a halt (and maybe moved backwards a bit) because of the heat? I am waking up earlier to run and that helps me FINISH. My 1/2 is in Dallas area so I need to be able to run in this heat. Its only been a few weeks of REALLY HOT WEATHER so maybe I just need more time out there.

My ride home in the afternoon has been between 109 and 113 the past week and it doesn't show any signs of change. We are actually getting some humidity on top of that. Wonderful. Makes it a lot easier to get into the pool when I get home though.

Oh yeah. This is getting frustrating. Its looking to be a hot humid summer here. Today was 34c (93  Fahrenheit) and humid. I find running in this heat can be scary, wondering if I may be pushing myself to hard. Do I need to hydrate even on a 10K? Throw in the smog warnings and things get even worse. Certainly no personal bests to be had for me. I think I'll do more bike/swim workouts till things cool down a tad.
