Subject: Maybury Park?

Has anyone done the paved bike trail at Maybury?  I know it's only 4 miles long but am wondering if it might be a good place to do my first nice short ride in 7 months with no traffic around.  I can't tell from the park map if it's a loop format or if it just ends at one of the major roads.  Thanks!

There is a small loop at beck road and seven mile that you can use to turn around. The other loops come back around to the main trail.

It is a nice trail. Small hills thats about it .

I seem to recall someone mentioning that they had their first crash at Maybury a couple years ago because a maintenance vehicle pulled out in front of them on the paved trail (randomly, from out of view).  Just a heads up, I guess.  I've never been there myself.

Island Lake is not too far...and probably quiet this time of year (light on the cars).

Yep, that was our good friend Jen (runnergirl).  I'm sure it wasn't fun, but she survived to tell the tale, thankfully.

Yep that was me!  Destroyed my wheel and tire...  but it all worked out thanks to my awesome BT rawk squadders!

I enjoy getting out the Maybury for some nice (MAINLY) traffic free riding.  It is short but it is pretty out there.  With all of the walkers and runners though, be careful of announcing yourself and not going too fast.  I would not be in aero a lot there... hard to react to the random dogs and children running in front of you.. and any maintenance workers in big green trucks!

Yes, the loops are short which can cause a little boredom Smile  And the secondary loops were a little rough and gouged, you have to pay attention closely.  It did satisfy my need for a traffic free ride my first time out this season but I'll go the extra few miles to ILRA next week!

Not really ideal for road bike.  Its more suitable a family cruiss ride I believe.  That said, it has a very good mountain bike loop.  If I bike there I will choose mtn bike over road anytime.
