Event warmup:

shiver in the rain
dip toe in water and think WTF
look at 9 year old and 79 year old next to me and say "I can do this". I am proud to say I beat the pants of both those two!!!! YEAH! lol.

Comments:

I had a major anxiety attack in the first 500 meters . As this was my very first open water swim I was not mentally prepared for murky water, slight chop and lots of people.

Once I got myself together I was great. I really enjoyed the swim.

I feel like I am hooked in swimming in competitions.
What would you do differently?:

Many many things but most of all I would eat and drink plenty before the race day.
Post race
Warm down:

eat
eat
eat

What limited your ability to perform faster:

general fitness and early anxiety

Event comments:

Thankyou to all the volunteers who helped make this day great.

Nice work! Sounds like a great race. I wish we had OWS races here. The lakes are just too small, I think.

yeah ... it has paved the way for feeling slightly hooked!

I cold not sleep last night as I was going through in a nice way the entire race and almost reliving stroke for stroke, Breath for Breath.  Was a really weird feeling.

I am now getting excited about my first Salt water open water swim. It will be a 5 km swim.
