Comments: I could have broken the 8:00/ mile pace pretty easily. My first two miles were barely under 10:00/ mile pace because I spent all my time looking for an open lane. It REALLY makes me appreciate the wave starts for the Boulder Boulder. After that I just kept it comfortable and picked it up with three miles to go. I averaged under 7:30/ mile for the last three and 7:15/ mile for the last mile. I actually felt pretty good. What would you do differently?: Not sure, this was my first ever OPEN Half Marathon so I'm relatively pleased. It's much easier when you haven't biked for 56 miles before hand. Maybe try to find a starting spot closer to the front! Post race
Warm down: Went home, the post race was a bit of a joke. BBQ and tacos at 9am is not my idea of good post race food. IHOP on the other hand... What limited your ability to perform faster: Traffic (other runners) Other than that...not much. Event comments: Based on the general effort it took to pick-up my race packet, it could have been a LOT better. The expo was weak and I already mentioned the post race food. Nothing special, just treated it as a training day. I did have oatmeal instead of cereal and drank some Gatorade before the race.
Nothing, I just went easy for the first two miles (as if I had a choice with all the traffic)
