Sunny
Total Time = 5h 42m 49s
Overall Rank = 61/154
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 16/25
Pre-race routine:

I woke up at 4 and forced my oatmeal, bagel and mix1 drink down. I got dressed and turned on the weather to see what was in store for the day. Looked like the perfect race weather. A slight breeze and clear skys. Around 5 I loaded up the car and headed down to transition. I parked about a mile away from transition, near the finish, probably a mistake because I had to haul my bag, water and pump down. My pump is a tank and weighs around 7lbs. Not a big deal going to, but after the race it was a pain.
Event warmup:

No real warmup except jumping up and down in my wetsuit, they didn't allow us in the water ahead of time.
Swim
  • 35m 42s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

I liked this swim course, it went by quickly and I felt pretty good in the water.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I probably need to start working on speed in the pool.
Transition 1
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

I had some issues getting my left foot into the shoe, but I took my time and didn't panick.
What would you do differently?:

work on getting my feet in the shoes on the bike.
Bike
  • 3h 05m 15s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.14 mile/hr
Comments:

I took off during the winter to race a marathon, instead of continueing cycling all year. This really put me behind in my training and slowed me down from last year. I am really happy with ride.

This ride was the most fun I have ever had during a race, the climbs got the heart going and the descents were fast. This was by far the most challenging race I have done and I loved every minute of it.
What would you do differently?:

Train through the winter and train through other life distractions.
Transition 2
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

T2 went great. Nice and fast.
Run
  • 1h 57m 36s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a pretty tough run, some nice steep hills. I promised myself I wouldn't stop and I would run the whole thing. The main goal was to run the whole thing and have fun. My run had been suffering the whole time in training for this and most of the training was not fun. Today was a great run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I did what I wanted and ran the whole race.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some water and some food and watched the race for a bit. The main event of the day was an OLY so most of the people were gone by the time the Halves were done.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Only running in the offseason.

Event comments:

I was impressed with the race overall, great volunteers, great course and nice festival, the post race was a disappointment. No real drinks except water and mix 1 from the vendor, and the post-race food was a sandwich baked lays and apple. Not a big deal, but a beer and pizza would have been nice. I didn't stick around too long, I had to get back to my hotel and check out.
