I had to add in extra minutes to my work-out plan for this week because I got behind on my training as I was frantically getting ready for the Africa trip.  However, I have a plan and I will complete the goal by Sunday night, by God's grace!  I even got a few extra minutes of cycling and running in today, so I should be fine.  Sorry I've been so disconnected from ya'll for this challenge.  I'll try to do better.

Go ENDLESS SUMMER!!  Keep on keepin' on!

Hoff's RR is up. Ciff Notes: He's fast. I'm sure you've all read cindyk's RR on her HIM. If not, stop what you're doing, and go congratulate them both. NOW. What great athletes (and if we're nice to them, perhaps they'll share some secrets with us).

At this point, we all have a fairly good idea if we can meet our goals. I may be the worst team captain in the world, but my suggestion is that if you can't meet your goal, please don't injure yourself trying. This is only a fun summer challenge. If you can but just need to wake up early to git 'r done, PM me your phone #. I'll call ya. Promise.

Four days to go so hang tough. Send random good thoughts to tania on her RAGBRAI event. I soooo hope she is having a great ride.

OK folks, what is everyone's status? I'm one short run, one routine swim and one insane weekend of riding away from finishing my goals.  If our team stands a shot at 100% goal completion, then I'm willing to put in the biking miles this weekend. Please let me know where you stand.

Also, does anyone know the final rules of the challenge? I've been reading the team captain thread, and the rules don't seem very clear. A lot of jabbing going on in that thread. Can anyone clarify the rules?

Thanks.

I have met my running goal.

I am 50 minutes away from the bike and 10 minutes from the swim, so there should be no problem for me finishing.

I am one hour away from making my swim goal.

1 and a half hours / 2 hours away from my running goal.

1 and a half hours away from my bike goal, which I will complete tonight.

I should make it by the end of the weekend.

Have a great workout weekend everyone!

Okay team,

I'm one swim and one run away from my goal. Met the bike goal yesterday so I should be good to go.

If I do the August challenge, could somebody remind me to take what I plan to do and decrease it by AT LEAST 10% for the swim? At this point I feel completely waterlogged.

And nobody needs to kill themselves to get to 100% this weekend. If you can, great! And if you can't, anything you can get in will be nice and will help with the team's overall score. Do not injure yourselves! AND HAVE FUN!!

If any of you plan on participating in an August tri challenge, please let me know in the August thread. We'll keep the teams the same +new people -people who can't/don't care to participate.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do in August (am I moving or am I not?), so there is no way I can continue to be your team captain.

However, the team has been great. No question.

So, with respect to Endless Summer, a teammate needs to declare team captain-ship. I'd love to keep doing it but it wouldn't be fair to you all.

You've done great. Congrats!

Run goal = attained tonight! (my least fav event, so I got it out of the way first). I just have to do a swim and a bike on both Sat. and Sun. and I will meet my July Challenge goals probably exactly down to the minute.

As to the August Challenge, I'm up for it. I know I've been fairly absent (literally) during this challenge, so I'd love to be more involved next go around. I'd be happy to Captain the team for August if ya'll would have me. Although filling Captain Lynda the Lovely's shoes is going to be pretty impossible!

GO TEAM ENDLESS SUMMER!! Bring 'er home!

MandiGayle, you'll be an awesome team captain! Go Endless Summer!!!

Congrats on exceeding your goals, mnewton! You may find that your enforced break just made you stronger.

I'm done with the swim and the bike and the run tomorrow will take me to 100% or more in each. But I'm sick of swimming. At the 820 minute mark, I just stood up and walked to the ladder. I wasn't remotely interested in swimming 821 minutes this month.

Hang in there guys; just one more day and our July challenge will be ovah!!!!

Edited to ask if Team Endless summer could post their August races/tris/events planned. I really liked my sig block this month and I'd like to update it with Aug events if Mandi Gayle doesn't want to use that as her sig block. She gets first dibs, of course.

WEll guys sorry I couldn't be there at the 100% mark. I though I would be able to pull off the goals with going to Chicago and The wedding. But they just worked against me. That and the 4 bike rides I had to cut short. Looks like my apetite was bigger than my stomach.

Wow!  what a crazy week this has been for me.  I can hardly believe I was still in Africa just a week ago.  Within my overall goals for this challenge, I had included a goal of running 60 minutes during my Africa trip, however, I only ran 15 minutes while I was there.  I also had fallen behind on all three goals with all the packing and prep for Africa.  But am I going to let any of that stop me?  Noooo!

So what happened was that, while still dealing with jet lag and a traveler's stomach, I trained more this week than I did in the whole month of June.  Yesterday I actually ran for a total of 100 minutes.  And today, I went riding on the road by myself (a first for me), and spent 20 minutes fixing the chain on my bike when it locked up at the beginning of my ride.  All of these things I didn't think possible.

Thank you, thank you everyone for inspiring me to action, and giving me an opportunity to get off my butt and push my narrowly set limits.  I know I wouldn't have done all these things if I hadn't been participating in the challenge.

So, my status is that I just need to swim 47 minutes, and bike 41 minutes tomorrow to make 100% of all my goals for this challenge!  Yes, it's down to the wire, but I'll get them done by God's grace.

August, here we come!

Thanks Lynda for the affirmation!  It think the sig block with events is such a lovely idea.  We can share it.  Imitation is the highest form of flattery, you know.  (i.e. me imitating you)   So, for my August events, I have the big one coming up . . .

August 28th - MandiGayle's First Tri (sprint distance)

Excitement is mine! (and lots of nerves)

Hi Team,

Well, the day is not over, but I am sorry to say that I may not be able to finish my run goal. I am just 2.5 miles short, but I was called into work.  I know I should of taken care of it earlier at the start of the weekend.  I'm embarrassed to be short by such a small amount.

Good going to all of my wonderful teammates who gave me thoughtful  inspirations and messages.  Thank you Cap'n lynda for the great leadership.  Now on to August........

Go Team Endless Summer!

BTW, I finished the early AM mini challenge with a score of 6 out of 8.

I'm a bit amazed, but happy to announce . . . I DID IT!!! As of 9pm this evening I met all my goals for this month for team ENDLESS SUMMER! Thank you everyone for the support! We have a few more hours to go so ya'll squeak those miles and minutes in if you can. This has been fun!

Whoo Hooo! We had a great month!!! Congrats to all of you; you did great and I sincerely hope you all had as much fun as I did. I'll update our numbers tomorrow afternoon to allow Tania to get back to work, put out fires, respond to urgent taskings, and then sneak to BT to update her log.

A huge congrats to Tania for RAGBRAI, BTW. What can we send you? A massage? A walker? A doughnut seat-cushion? Very, very well done. Can't wait to read about your experiences. And did you get a chance to say hi to my friend?

The request from Rennick for the August challenge is to state your desire to participate here and I'll post our team status. So, in or out?

I'm happy to hand this off to Mandi who I know will make me look like the PE teacher you ended up hating when it was all said and done.

Great job, Endless, and very, very great luck for August. One more race and I'm off to beercation.

Hi everybody!  I am back from RAGBRAI, I had a completely awesome time and will do a little write up in my log when I get out from under the mountain of work that was waiting for me when I got back.  I feel great, butt is a little sore but already looking forward to my Wednesday night group ride, I'll be back to 100% by then, I'm sure.  I REALLY REALLY loved it!!

My miles are in my log - so my numbers for the month are up to date. Win or lose, I think this was the best team hands down!!

If anyone wants to donate to Team www.beginnertriathlete.com for the Tour de Goodwill that Lynda, GRV Frog, and other BTers will be doing, please do so here:

http://www.active.com/donations/fundraise_public.cfm?key=MNewto

I don't know how it is decided where people who didn't make their goals will make their donations, but unless there is someone else raising money, I would suggest supporting Capt. Lynda's and my ride to help Goodwill.
