Is anyone familiar with these two bike legs?  I am signed up for the Pigman but am not familiar with that area so I was curious if any of you might have any thought on the two.

Thankz,

TG

Pigman is tough- lots of hills.
Even tougher last year when you had to bike through the entire leg while it was storming.

Yeah bet that was fun.   I heard it had a good deal of hills just trying to get an idea to setup for my training.

Thanks

joshboots is right about the Pigman. I did it last year and the bike course is very hilly. The bad part is the run leg is also hilly. Good luck and come to Iowa and run the Pigman

I don't have a profile, but the bike has some hills, no 'oh my god' type hills, more just consistent rollers.  Wind has the potential to be more of an issue.  Last year there was a 25-30 mph headwind for the first half of the bike.  The run has one large downhill about 1.5 mi in and one large uphill 1.5 mi from the finish but is otherwise pretty flat.  The run course is very exposed and potentially very hot if it is hot/sunny/humid.  Hope that helps...

I think the course has changed this year.  Going west out of of the park, south to Atkins, then west to Newhall, north to Co Road west of Shellsburg, west on the Co road a couple miles and back the same route.  http://www.pigmantri.com/p2map.pdf

Thanks for the info.

It is always tough to know what you are going up against without riding/running.  This will help me try to work on my training rides.

Take Care

I will be doing the bike leg of pigman tomorrow, then running for an hour at an easy pace.
Everyone is welcome to meet me there at 6:50 am so we can leave at 7am. Send me an email if you need more info [email protected]
