Ok, so i've ran the Houston Marathon and done two sprint tri's. I'm looking at doing a half iron in sept. The prairieman in Dallas. I want to do an Ironman next year. I don't know if I should do IM Arizona or IM Core d'alene. Any suggestions? I know they are both almost full, so I need to make a decision soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I did AZ this year and am doing CDA next year. BT has a lot of people going to both so either way you will find lots of support from others going through the same ups and downs at the same time as you.

Az was windy and could be very, very hot. CDA could be very hot and has some good climbs in the course. I liked the one loop swim of Az but I heard 2 loops is cool because you get out of the water, shake out your legs and have lots of people cheering you on as you start your second loop. Plus I heard the water was beautiful  in CDA.

The run sucks in both places but that's just me

Good luck

Tom

IMAZ just cuz I said so. Hey, it's a dry heat, right?? Mostly, I think it depends on how long you want to train. AZ is months before CDA and will require lots on winter training. That's good for me in FL, don't know where you live.

I live in Arizona and volunteered at the IM. It was hot that day over 90 degrees. But the strong winds was unusual for that time of the year. Racers complained over the race design due to the fact that it was change at the last second due the reservations refused to let the race come through the land. If I was gonna do an IM I would choose a place with cooler weather. I would choose the later.

I have volunteered at Coeur d' Alene Ironman and have signed up for next year. I would highly recommend this one. The temperature is great, the course is awesome and I hear the volunteers are really good. It is almost full so I would definately do this one!

I've just signed up for IMAZ. I live in Texas, so I'll be used to the heat. I want to do Buffalo Springs HIM in Texas in June, so I'm going with AZ as my first IM. It should be interesting to say the least!!!
