Did my first triathlon last Saturday and signed up & started training for the next one on Monday. Oh, I also renewed my determination to learn how to run by starting the C25K again . . .

bryancd - 2010-06-29 9:02 PM I crushed my enemies, saw them driven before me, and heard the lamentation of their women.

Alright, I just had to say it.... I love your posts!!!

I am working on the whole crushing and lamentation thing but in the meantime I ran a 1:54 half marathon last week which is the first time I ever broke 2:00.  That is my small victory

I got my ride time on my short route (7.5 mi out + 7.5 mi back = 15 mi) under one hour.

And I did it twice this month cause I figured it didn't count if I only did it once.

My next goal will be to get the ride under one hour elapsed time, i.e., no rest at the turnaround.

My "A" race is still 11 months away, so I just need to keep making steady improvements.

Few things have happened in the last week.

Crossed off sub 7 min mile 5k goal at Sunday's sprint triathlon and went 21:13 ( 21:42 is 7 min miles)

Last weekend crossed off goal of riding 56 Miles

Finished first in 35-39 in my last race. This is my second age group win but first in a decent size Tri. The first one came in a very small local Tri where I almost won by default...lol.

I'm pretty proud of my progress in 4 months of training. Next month will be my first Olympic...looking to go sub 2:20 as my goal for that.

I have one more short term goal on my list of a sub 45 minute 10K that I will be looking to cross off this weekend as I just signed up for a 10K race in Pacific Palisades.

velcromom - 2010-06-29 11:16 PM IMCdA 2010. done. still breathing.

Awesome!

My little victory for this year was a 3.3 mile swim race I trained for all winter.  I really hoped to turn in a time around 1:30 and was so pumped when I saw the clock as I got out and it said 1:28:xx.

The prizes for the AG placers were nice towels.  I've named mine "Ego" and she goes with me to every swim practice.

Drug my butt out of bed to run this morning at 5:30AM after having had too much red wine last night.

The swim milestones have been the best for me this year (I had ZERO swim background and just started swimming in March.)

-- Completed my first tri/OWS of 400 yards - Early June

-- Completed first 1000 yards non-stop - Mid June

-- Completed 1500 yards non-stop - Last week

-- Now that the weather has begun to resemble summer in the PNW, I'm shooting for 2k yards next week in the OW

Drank 6 beers in less than one hour last weekend. Put in my largest bike volume month to date in June and posted a 18.5 mph on a 20 miler from home that includes 685feet of climbing.  Lost 25lbs this year and haven't put a single one back, shocking considering the recent beer consumption.

Survived 10 hours riding in the van with my children (age 2 and 4). Top that!!

Then ran/swam around the tiny hotel pool like a chicken with my head cut off.

Dreaming of my next triathlon. Maybe I'll go for a 1/2 IM, just think of all the peace and quiet.....

I still managed to get 3rd in my AG in last Sunday's sprint, even after the Olympic distance race was cancelled due to the weather, and those athletes became sprinters.

Just six months ago I had 2 large blood clots in my calf and 4 more in my lungs.  After they finally went away and they took me off my blood thinners I was cleared to train again.  2 weeks later I learned I was a 2010 Kona Lottery Winner.  So in the last 6 months I have reduced my weight from 246 lbs to 210lbs, done 2 trail races, 1 sprint tri and 1 half ironman 3 weeks ago.  Training is good and all three sports are much, much better for me.  I have an Oly in a week.....

and Kona IM on Oct 2.

I've run 4 days in a row pain free(granted it's only 2 miles per day)!  Something I haven't been able to do since April.  Now if I could just find a way to NOT be the slowest swimmer in the pool tonight...
