I have always used the term "finish line," but my boy Phil from across the pond keeps using the term "finishing line."  Since I really like Phil (TdF commentator) and his relaxing and reassuring british voice, I am thinking of changing my lexicon (a likely personal example - "where is the damn finishing line!?"

Phil uses a lot of odd terms.   Some are simply British versions, some are made up nonsense.  But, he says it with so much confidence that I also find myself incorporating his terms and phrases into my speech.  I think Phil (and Paul Sherwen, not to mention Bobke) are about 80% of why I enjoy watching the Tour.

I keep cracking up everytime he mentions that a rider is catching up after taking a "natural break"!!! I know it's childish of me but damn it's funny!! I'm thinking that I'm gonna start a trend and refer to my bathroom trips now as natural breaks instead!! Who's with me? Laughing

If that's the case, what is it they speak in Australia?  I only understand about a fourth of the words when they interview Australians.

G'day

It's called Strine, or at least the slang/dialectical mouthwash is.

But as an English/Aussie dual national i thought I had better chip in.
