Hi,

I pointed out all my nutritions for Sunday, but I still have my doubts about my breakfast, I was thinking about eating 10 white sandwiches with jam and others, ... Or a plate of pasta, what do you guys eat in the morning before a 70.3?

Holy crap. i could never eat that much before a race! But may be you are used to it? I dont think you would want a plate of pasta sitting in your stomach the morning of a race.

What did you eat during training?

I eat a bagel with peanut butter and jelly.

Is this what you normally eat for breakfast?

I personally eat the same thing I eat every morning - a bagel with peanut butter - as I'm traveling to the race site. Right before the swim start in a few races I've munched on a package of Sports Beans as it's usually been a few hours since my breakfast.

Please don't make yourself sick with a heavy stomach..... and you don't want to expend all of your energy on digestion.

I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat the morning of my 70.3.

Oh, and Lisa's post reminded me; I also did a GU right before swim start, then continued my nutrition plan from there.

It all doens't seem to be that much? I thought that athletes eat pancakes and other things before a full ironman, why not before a 70.3?

I go almost entirely liquid diet after lunch the day before the race (i like to start a race on an empty GI tract).  My lunch the day before is typically a very large dish of pasta with a little lean protein and maybe a little sauce, I'll have a smoothie for a late afternoon snack, then for dinner a bottle of Bolthouse Farms "Green Goodness" or Naked Juice "Green Machine" mixed with protein powder and maybe a peanut butter sandwich for dinner.

For breakfast the day of the race, I usually have a bottle of Bolthouse Farms "Blue Goodness" or Naked Juice "Blue Machine" (high in carbs, very high in B vitamins) shaken with a little protein powder, and maybe a banana on the side.  If I'm feeling very hungry, I'll might also have a bagel or toast with peanut butter.  I also have about 24-26 ounces of coffee.

I just don't think any of us have ever heard of anyone, regardless if they are racing or not, eating 10 sandwiches for breakfast. That's an entire loaf of bread! Is that what you meant, or do you have a different definition of "sandwich"?

I always try to go light, so that my stomach doesn't get upset during the race. Usually I'll eat a bowl of oatmeal or a couple of Clif Bars (one when I wake up and another an hour before race time).
