My home town race... wasn't going to do it, but I've changed my mind.  Of the races I've done, this is the most challenging course as far as sprints go.  Hoping for cool water.  Looks like a daytime high in the mid 80s, should be a good day to race, although starting an hour earlier would be even better IMO.

This will be my first year competing in this event.  After reading some reviews about prior races I’m also hoping for cooler water temperatures.   Anyone know what the current water temp is?   I’m happy to see that the outside temperatures may drop on Sunday.  The last three events that I’ve done have been in the high 90s.  I’m looking forward to the challenge regardless.  Good luck everyone!

Someone I know might have hopped in for a little 500m swim last Saturday... he said it wasn't real warm, but not as cool as he would like either.    A lot can change in a week, hoping it is cooler than last week honestly.

Decided against better judgment to sign-up yesterday.  This is my favorite sprint and even though my summer training has been almost non-existent, I figured this would be a fun (and likely grueling) weekend workout.  Plus, looks like the only other race I'll be able to do is the Giant Acorn in Oct... and that's a long way away.  See you all there and good luck in the race!

Stupid mistake... didn't actually register and though I'd get around to it and they closed online registration this morning @ 8AM.  I sat down to do it @ like 8:02AM... might not be doing it after all.  Might be able to register Saturday, otherwise anyone have any contacts with Setup?

Hey, my only other race is going to be Giant Acorn too!

I've got some health issues going on, so I'm just hoping to finish in one piece. Does the hot hot summer mean more green slime in the swim?

See y'all there!
Rebecca

E-mail the RD, they might be able to hook you up.

I really like this race, not able to do it this year but I have done it the previous 2.

Swim is great, just watch out for fish hooks when walking down the boat ramp, someone got one stuck in their foot last year.

Bike is great, run is tough & hot.

E-mailed some folks and they worked me in... very appreciative to them.  The nasty part of the swim IMO is where we get in and out of the water where the ducks and geese seem to spend a great deal of time.

Green slime here we come.  Cuts down the wind resistance on the bike.  This is a fun race except for the 1st mile of the run... looks like it won't be too brutal compared with recent weather.  Does BT have a presence there?  If not, see you all at the pizza tent after!

No presence that I know of, but there are going to be BT'ers there.  If you see me... I answer to "Dave" or "hey you" would work as well.

Maybe some rain too... but nice and cool, so the water will feel good :-)

Rats... 40% chance of rain during the race at this point.  Would prefer a cool morning without rain, but we will see.  I'm thinking with air temps in the high 6s0 overnight the water might be even cooler than the measured 84 today.

Presently 66 with a 10% chance or rain, looks like temps around 75 by 10AM... should be perfect weather to race in.  Off to the race!!

Swim was surprising ok.  Once you get about 15yds from shore the foliage went away

I loved the bike course with the exception of the last turn in where you re-enter the park grounds.  Steep downhill and tight right handers are not fun!  2 different people in front of me were penalized for blocking though, that got old, but I'm glad a marshal was there to see it!

The run was surprisingly rough!  That first uphill hurts (it seemed so short on the bike), but I didn't mind the other little hills.  I liked how the finish was set-up because there was no way someone was going to sneak up and pass you at the very end!

Yep, I guess there's a reason they call it "the famed Montelago hill".  This was the first year I made it without walking... and at times on it, I'm not sure it would have made much difference :-)

Welcome to BT too... 1st post... hope we see lots more!

Enjoyed it, glad I did it and the run... don't like that course but still did OK on it.  Sort of looking forward to the flat 13.1 at Patriots.  Race report to come, but a real improvement over last years race, placed 21st overall, 3rd AG and shaved almost 15 minutes off last years time.

Wow... that's a GREAT race!  If I may ask, to what do you attribute your incredible improvement from last year?  I'd like to order a couple of bottles of whatever it is :-)

I've been on a journey the last two years that started with a weight loss goal and rediscovering my athletic side.  Attribute many things, learning to swim was a major off season goal and that's coming along.  Started biking when I bought my bike early last year, that's an emerging skill as well.  Used to be a pretty good runner many years ago, so getting closer to where I'd like to be in terms of running.

But if you like... I've got this top secret red drink that tastes eerily similar to Crystal Light tropical punch that I'm selling for $10/bottle... all of the proceeds going to my chosen charity below.   Your Results May Vary.

Awww gee... you had to put in that disclaimer, didn't you?  (but the charity is a great one)  Do you run in the VIA 5K race in C'ville?  That's a fun community event supporting the school in town.

I have not, but I'm always a threat to compete in pretty much any local foot, bike and triathlon event/race especially if its tied to a good cause.
