Swim
Comments: Had some "problems" after about the first 200yds in the water and had to have a mental time-out and re-group. Finished the swim pretty strong though but it was slow overall. What would you do differently?: The suggestion of trying to get in the water a little prior to the start of the race sounds like a good idea. Transition 1
Comments: Long run from the water to the transition area. No problems. Just making sure that I make smooth transitions. Not too worried about the speed right now. What would you do differently?: Nothing different Bike
Comments: Not too bad. A little quicker than my previous race but similar to what I have been training at. Used two gels today, probably could have used another one and drank more during the bike. What would you do differently?: Still want to slow down a little so that I can save something for the run. Transition 2
Comments: Same as T1 What would you do differently?: Same as T1 Run
Comments: Again, not too happy with the run. Need to work on my bike-run legs. Post race
Warm down: Ate some fruit and bagels and drank a lot of water and gatorade. Sat with BMAX, her brother and future sister in law and just had nice conversation waiting for Cindy to finish up with her volunteer duties. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just need more work in all areas. Event comments: Not sure if I will do this event again next year unless the primary road is repaired or they re-route the course. Last updated: 2005-07-16 12:00 AM

I should have know it was going to be that kind of day when I woke up and realized that I had overslept by 30 minutes. Got up, took the dog for a walk, woke up Cindy, grabbed a bagel w/ peanut butter, some water, loaded up the van and headed to the race.
Not too much time available for any kind of a warmup, they started the course talk when I was setting up in transition.
